person with severe social anxiety disorder (the disorder part is
important, otherwise it's only anxiety) can't function normally under
"triggering circumstances". A crippled person can still crawl.
And
now I am not going to pass judgment and claim that crippled people
without social anxiety disorder have it easier, but I do say that it's
wrong to claim the other way around.
And no, mental disorders,
including social anxiety disorders, are not as simple as "get a grip on
yourself and do it seriously!", there are actual changes/alterations
done to the brain physically etc
Then again, that's surely no excuse not to try to better oneself. A cripple without legs can still train ones arms enough to compensate, being able to do stuff such as swimming etc A person with social anxiety disorder could train how to cope with a triggered state better. That
is, the body and mind panicking, that is tons of hormones etc that runs
straight out into the blood, but still through will and concentration
hide it/keep it down, putting on a false normal face. The fact that the
physical condition would make one exhausted to the point where it's
possible to collapse is of course something to be put into
consideration. |
