  • Over the past 48 hours 4chan's formspring page has gotten over 12,000 questions, and I've received over 3,000 e-mails. Many thanks to everyone who submitted a question, and sent me a message! I was able to respond to a few hundred e-mails and had hoped to start answering questions on formspring, but it seems that the number of questions broke the page. Once that's sorted out, I'll sift through them and answer as time allows. Thanks again for all of the support!

In other news, /rs/ now processes MediaFire/MegaUpload/a bunch of other links correctly (this had been broken for months). The old links should be updated in 24-48 hours. Thanks to Popcorn Mariachi for spontaneously appearing and fixing this.

Surely not all people who are into the Japan thing are like this, are they? I'd prefer to think at least some of you are regular people who happen to enjoy watching cartoons or reading comics, but don't turn it into some sort of twisted lifestyle involving Pocky-fuelled and grotesque fat men in costumes made for women.

No it's true we're all vikings.

In fact, all the translators are young, attractive girls we kidnapped and forced to learn Japanese under the threat of torture and death, to do our translating work for us. We rape them daily unless they meet the required quota in lines.

It's hard trying to be a person who likes "otaku culture" and a normal person at the same time. You gotta hide your power level. On the off chance someone cool mentions anime or whatever in a positive way, maybe you can join in.

If people can like Japan\Japanese culture without being a massive faggot about it either by being a pockey munching ham beast or an elitist tsundere for japan cockwad like >>4500333

I would be sure they aren't found on the internet.

I enjoy reading manga, VNs, and watching [some] anime.
    I think figurines are stupid.
I'm normal weight, not socially retarded, have a job, and am halfway through college.

Most of us are normal, shy, nondescript, quiet spoken individuals in real life. Its only online that we turn to retards. Though there are special cases.

I'd like to believe this, but photographic evidence of cons (and the popularity of con threads) makes me think otherwise.

Hmm, most of the weeaboos I know aren't total fatluses. Most are pretty skinny. But they don't act like normal people. I have a good weeaboo friend, and he's a nice person, but he'll whip out his laptop in the middle of everything we do and read manga (by himself).

I.e., we're playing God Hand with bros, it's his turn, he declines to read Bleach instead.

Another one is skinny and kind of a creeper. He has a lolicon fetish and is obsessed with Touhou. A nice enough person, but he does a similar thing and plays Touhou at every opportunity on his laptop.

And the fangirls I know are pretty psychotic. They all go by Kingdom Hearts nicknames. They're mostly comprised of fatluses, goths, and dykes. They all cosplayed at the last Asian Celebration, even though it was just an saturday market.

So TL:DR, I think it has more to do with your personality than your actual fatness level, but complete japanophiles generally have some personality flaws.

I'm glad I'm not that into it.

I try to hide my powerlevel as best as I can.
I like videogames and japanese stuff, but not enough to be a raging japanophile. I do have figures and a couple of keychains, and that's about it.
We play every now and then at college in our laptops, but I also like to go talk to my classmates. My buddy is a raging videogame/anime fan; he'd be nice if he didn't get excited or did something ridiculous at the drop of a hat.
He'll go nuts if people start talking about certain videogames like Smash Bros. or something that piques his interest. I'll admit that there are times when I can get very nerdy.

    >I'd prefer to think at least some of you are regular people who happen to enjoy watching cartoons or reading comics
That's me, I just like cartoons and comics, they don't necessarily have to be Japanese, I like all of them if they're good. And videogames of course, but who doesn't like them?

I don't care at all about Japanese culture, food, history, clothing, music, etc. The only thing I like from them is anime, manga and games.
    >> Anonymous 02/27/10(Sat)18:22 No.4501445

I am in the military and live in GLORIOUS NIPPON!!!

Too bad when I am around my friends we harras all the locals and fuck shit up on the regular.

Then I go back to my room and watch Princess Tutu with my headphones on.
    >> Anonymous 02/27/10(Sat)20:24 No.4502524
I watch anime, read manga and VNs, collect figures, play video games. I am of appropriate weight for my height (though I feel I look like a neanderthal. Well, a shaven, clean neanderthal).

I... don't like to be seen or heard though, so I just kind-of blend into the background as that one guy people don't really talk to.
