In Japan, they love puns and use them as often as possible.

In the anglosphere, puns are looked down on so much that people even have to apologize when they make a pun, even if it was unintended.

And for a reason, seeing how the other option is reusing the same age-old boke / tsukkomi routine ad nauseam.
