Islam is a weird religion combined with the even weirder customs of the middle east. One of my high school friends who got deployed to Iraq a few years back told me all about the weird shit they do there. Apparently it's ok to have sex with kids, both boys and girls, as long as they haven't reached puberty yet. Homosexuality has a hillarious double standard there too, while Islam condemns it, their culture has a long tradition of it so they do it in secret a lot. They even had a saying there, where "women are for making babies, men are for having fun".

The ancient Greeks had the same saying; that attitude was pretty common throughout the pre-modern western / near-eastern world, really. Even though the spread of the Abrahamic religions made homosexuality taboo, in most places it seems to have just continued more discretely.
