Finished Chaos;Head and it left me with a foul taste. While I did like what they tried to do with the whole delusion of reality and the 2D versus 3D aspects (particularly the fight with Seira-tan), its other aspect did not go well with me. I especially hated the delusional trigger and how tacked on it was; when it came out, it usually served as just an interruption to the story and felt like an excuse to add in gore or light-heartiness. The whole "deconstruction" of the otaku life was okay, but it became sad and pathetic near the end (specifically with the virginity presence). While the story progress, it felt as the genre was slipping ever so gracefully into shounen, whereas the final conformation seemed like a Type-Moon VN. Chaos;Head was also liberal in the themes and settings it decided to borrow from past VNs and the whole humanistic subtext felt like it didn't belong.

It was slow to start and while the middle was decent, it all fell fast in chapter nine. Overall, it was a pretty nice experience, but it could have done a bit more.

it would, but the branch is at the end of chapter 9.

which means you have to go through chapters 1-8 AGAIN.
and I do mean play the entire game AGAIN, because you can't simply hold ctrl until chapter 9 because you have to pick the correct delusions at the correct time. all reds will lead to the A ending.
    not worth it.

    A couple of questions:

~ I just reached the confrontation with Yua in Room 37 in @cafe and rand around with FES. how far into the game am I?
~ Does the B route become accessible only after first completion?

    >felt like an excuse to add in gore or light-heartiness

No matter how shitty your game is, if you add gore there will be always a group that will praise it. That's the benefit of working with blatant violence and rape in general, people pay too much attention to this kind of themes and ignore the story completely.

    >(particularly the fight with Seira-tan)

I love how he realizes she's just an anime character, and she turns into cardboard cutouts.

It's sad because /jp/ wouldn't be able to do that.

It took me 23 hours to complete so i guess you can try and gauge it that way. Although I'm a pretty fast reader so maybe add a bit more time. For the second question, yes. You have to choose all the delusions that have "sono me dare no me"

2 normals, 3 green, 3 red. look up a walkthrough for info on where they are.

you can get the AA end if you pick every red, but in order to get the B, you are required to go green.

For ending B, just follow with what http://g-seeker.net/game/k/chaoshead.html say with:

    緑 - going green
    スルー - doing nothing
    赤 - going red?
    >> Anonymous of Germany !WvzhzxDiIQ 10/26/08(Sun)00:52 No.1511918
I also finished it yesterday (the B end) and I agree with what you said.
While I kind of liked the AA end (never got the A end but from what I hear it just leaves out the final scene), you just had the feeling that they failed to tie up all loose ends completely and some stuff was still flying in the air.
And the B end, well you got to experience the true new gen incidents (while a bunch of stuff there was still untranslated, but you could guess it), but not much more. And it just made you feel like shit, sitting there and knowing that this was it.
Somehow felt like a pseudo attemp to have a deep ending.
    >> Anonymous 10/26/08(Sun)01:05 No.1511958
Is there anyway to not skip over a delusion choice in skip mode?
    >> Anonymous 10/26/08(Sun)01:08 No.1511967
Or you could just get a save at chapter 10 of the B route - It's the only part of it that's different. Unless you want to see all the other delusions for yourself, that is.

    >>1511958

No. You really have to basically graze everything in the story over again and make sure not to pass through them, saving frequently.

Agree'd Type-Moon atleast gives you an ENDING and a sensible way of how said powers work. It never gets pulled out of the characters ass,its always stressed that the characters ability is always there, they just dont know how to REALLY use it.

The final battle was Bleach level, putting it on Type-Moon level is just an insult to Nasu. As its quite clear that the writer of Chaos;head had no idea what so ever on how to make battles seem interesting and involving.

So much they're still milking Tsukihime.

The old shounen manga INNER POWER cliché bullshit. It's the same thing.

    >The final battle was Bleach level, putting it on Type-Moon level is just an insult to Nasu.
And you're insulting my intelligence posting this low level trolling. Nasu is more Bleach level than any other famous visual novel writer out there.

Milking something has nothing to do with it.

Each route in Tsukihime gave a definitive ending.
For the milking, they just decided to start anew (as if nothing happened).
    Entirely different things.

The point is that in T-Moon, everything is ability driven.
You knw they have it, the point is how they apply it in each situation.
And you are given a pretty clear explanation as to how it works.
CHaos Head spits on that in chapter 10.

And no, T-Moon is not Bleach-level (whatever that means).

The problem with Chaos Head is that it ignores 9 chapters of Build-Up and gives you endings that ignore characters, events and give no clear closure.
    It's a shame.
    >> Anonymous 10/26/08(Sun)05:10 No.1512873
Nasu's battles follow an innate logic (the exception being certain Fate/stay night battles) that always follow sort of system. And instead of using that system as a mere device that can be thrown away like a lot of shounen writers do, he puts great care into it, making sure he characters abilities and outcomes in battle are justified by some, albeit weird, logic.

    >Milking something has nothing to do with it.

They give open ending on purpose?

Nasu agreed, don't bother about it.

None of the Tsukihime endings is open ended enough to be properly used for starting Melty Blood though (Far-Side is easy though, since there is No Arc).

Melty Blood just uses pre-existent characters and events (without the closure given in Tsukihime) to tell a new story and give us KATTO KATTO KATTO KATTO KATTO
