01/19/11(Wed)11:22 No. 2866052 Give it time. The next generation will most probably endorse European integration. My
kid brother, for example, is younger than the Euro here in Finland is.
Thus he'll have absolutely no nostalgia for such a currency, in the same
way I have no nostalgia for currencies before I was born. The trend is
that the young are by far more positive and open-minded than our
sceptical elders. And let's take a look what the next generation will
enjoy: - The possibility of a conventional war in Europe has been
pretty much completely annihilated. I for one find it downright
impossible to even begin to think about a possible war between, say,
France and Germany, and if you were listening at all during history
lessons, you'd know that a mere 100 years ago the situation was
staggeringly different. And during the cold war we had the USSR and it's
Eastern European satellites: nowadays many of those satellites are a
part of the EU and Russia is an important trading partner. - Ease of
travel. No more tolls and tariffs and passport checks. Want to go to
Pisa for a vacation? Take a train. Want to compare regional prizes for
the same product? With the Euro, it's quite easy. And no more changing
from currency a to b and the bank taking a cut in the process, either. - Anyone wanna continue?
