05/08/10(Sat)23:28 No.974269>>1. Have you studied the soil of the island and
determined its arability? Do you realize that you need to rotate crops
to keep the soil from turning to dust?
Yes. And we're
doing permaculture, most likely, so no need to rotate crops.
>>2. How are you going to produce anything so you
can trade for food and water on the mainland?
We grow our
own food, water is abundant but sea water can be filtered if necessary.
>>3. Do you know how to make houses so they
don't, you know, fall down?
Plans are on the forums-
simple houses at least are easy to do. We have a few people with
construction skills.
>>4. How much of
the population will actually be willing to do all the work required in
building, once they actually get there?
People help other
people and get help back. You can build a house yourself if you want, or
just sleep in a tent or under the stars. It's really up to people how
much work they want to put in.
>>5.
How do you plan on dealing with the insect population, food-borne and
water-borne diseases, injuries, infections, unexpected accidents?
Mosquito
nets, doctors and medicine.
>>6.
When the time comes, a lot of the people who said they were going aren't
going to go. Stuff like this often sounds like a good idea until the
time comes to actually do it.
You may be right. We'll have
to see. But if we recruit 500 people and 300 come, I'd call that a
success. And remember, we have 273 members after one measly month. |
