most indians do respect chinese culture and consider it a model in many ways.
the private news media is rather anti-china because, like most news media, it depends on ad revenue. And corporations indigenous to india are often in competition with Chinese ones, and thus don't like the idea of their competition getting a lot of good press.
Also, it's no big secret that indian and chinese strategic interests clash often, which is simply why public media is often critical of China.

well, during the caste system the lowest caste, the Dalits, would receive pay for trash cleanup.
So essentially, every other caste would litter or trash whatever they wanted, because it wasn't their responsibility to clean up, the Dalits would do that work.
When the caste system went out, the idea that you can litter wherever you want and the place would still be cleaned up by someone stayed.
So even though 50 years ago the caste system was abolished, the cultural ideas will take much longer to evolve.

although at times the north and the south have been separate, or different parts were under feudal warlordships, india has always tended to exist as a single national entity, at least loosely, there is no reason to think this will change even temporarily, nor is there drive for such a drastic change.
