Post Folk/Regional costume of your country/state/province/etc...
Time for a thread full of American self-parody.
Such is life in the South.
Here ya go.
feels good to be mestizo
Every village has a different design and every specific church group has differents colours and accents here and there.I'll post a few. This one is from Laren. The white clogs tells you this is sunday(they dress up for sunday, it is churchday) and white clogs for sunday are a strictly catholic thing.
>>5425614Another sunday best, village of Cadzand, but if I remember correctly, these are "zwarte-kousenkerk" or "black socks church", often dressed in long black garments, women are forbidden to wear pants or they get it.Biblebelt still has a sizeable group of these btw. Wear the schools still demand girls/women in dress or get spanked and sent home to change.
>>5425627This is Volendam, the hats are a giveaway for most coastal towns in the area.
>>5425627>black socks church>read it as "black cocks church"How appropriately Dutch.
>>5425633Beveland-Schouwen(Zeeland province). You will often see the bigger white headdress/neckdecorations down south.
>>5425644Details in the hat give it away as being specific to Arnemuiden.
Group photo!
>>5425633sokawaai.rpm
This picture is labeled Axel. But I don't have to look anywhere but her head to see it is from the south. She is probably protestant, I believe black clothes usually is.(But this does not hold up so well for men.)

The colonies were not spared. Some locals apparently can tell the difference between islands, but not me. This is Bonaire.
>>5425666
Bretagne
>>5425679Much better.
>>5425676Island of Curaçao, traditional colonial era clothing, to appease her Majesty who is coming.
Not my region tho
>>5425687Another Curaçao one.
Basque
>>5425696And another one.Earthtones for harvesting feast.
Alsace
>>5425699One from more the center of the land. Take note of the hat and what is on her shoulders. Similar things in Spakenburg.I've been to Staphorst and Spakenburgh and old people mostly still wear this, young people tend to less do so, but for official happenings and church they do.Then again, having a tv in some places in these towns is enough for the local police to come by and advise you to get rid of the devil device(yeah, true story).
Nord
>>5425694And a dudeI'm going to post one more example because every town has a different design in this case too
>>5425679that's brazilian side. unfortunatelysome are 7/10 would bang and never answer back calls
>>5425719Mickey mouse!>>5425726This pic is where they have full hats. A rarity when it comes to traditional clothing. Still the white dress around it, as should be in the south.
>>5425735>>5425694Pisa o giù forte?
So much cool hats
>>5425761[x]much[o]many
Normal everyday dress for the 1920's.My best guess is province South-Holland when I see the heads, but dresses make it look more like North-Holland.Maybe somewhere around the border of these two?
This is Walcheren. It is now part of Utrecht. Has been probably since the time we exchanged turnips for potatoes.
>>5425769Yep sry, i'm tired.
And a collection from all 4 corners.

Richer towns and catholics were the ones mainly to dress colourful and pretty, protestants wore mostly black even if well off, and poorer towns just had little colours if catholic and poor and protestant was Latvia level. This can be seen here on this 1903 photograph. This was a meeting in Naarden in response to the execution of a 22 year old farmer due to land disputes(lands are used as always, 1812 sees reforms, old contracts no longer honoured, finally military sent, shoots to kill, much longer story, but this is short version). These are Erfgooiers, in what today is known as (he-)'t Gooi, more specifically Hilversum, where I live now.
>>5425829I'd put my penis in her vagina, if you know what I mean.>>5425872Another one from Hilversum. About 1910-1920. Traditional clothes here are nowhere around anymore here, not even for festivals or special occassions. It'll dissappear everywhere eventually, but it's nice to see it still in use.
Those were all I had.Enjoy some Dutch army on skates.
>>5425650>>5425644Did I just encounter two fellow Zeeuwen on /int/?
This is the best England has
>>5425904And welcome back to another round on WW2 on ice. Here we have the Dutch team strutting their stuff.
>>5425915Nee, ik postte alles wat ik had van klederdracht. Toevallig relatief veel Zeeuws. Die hadden ook de meeste rijkere stadjes en dorpen. Dus interessantere klederdracht dan alleen een plunje met pet.
I guess this is the closest thing we have?I am not part Algonquin but I am 1/32 Chippewa
>>5425945>1/32 Chippewa
fuck yeah! fucking badass!
>>5425945Oh wait actually I AM part Algonquian because I guess Chippewa is another name for Ojibwe, who are Algonquian speaking.THE MORE I KNOW.
>>5425945>1/32you're a fucking American
>>5425945>1/32 ChippawaI am so embarrassed by people who use fractions to explain ancestry.
>>5425996Dude.NoJust.Ugh.No
>>5426015You should be ashamed of people who take it seriously.Unless you have a better system.
>>5426009Yea so are a lot of Chippewa what are you trying to say, buddy? I only posted the Algonquin because they used to rule over Michigan where I live now.
>>5425996Both sets of ancestors are rolling in their graves Their faces in their palms
>>5426015Damn people are butthurt. Thats the only concrete fraction I remember. 1 X great great grandparent = 1/32 XGet over it.
Traditional Bavarian folk costume from my region in Bavaria, called "Tracht". It's a local variation of the famous "Dirndl" and "Lederhosen". It's really interesting that both Bavaria and the Netherlands have such a huge amount of folkcostumes even though they both aren't that big.
>>5426015Also the vast majority of Indian Tribes in the US require some fraction of parentage to be able to join.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_quantum_laws#Tribes_requiring_1.2F2_degree_blood_quantum_for_membershipWhat now bro?
Gaucho or Gaúcho is a term commonly used to describe residents of the South American pampas, Gran Chaco, or Patagonian grasslands, found principally in parts of Southern Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, eastern and southern Bolivia and Southern Chile. In Brazil, gaúcho is also the main gentilic of the people from the state of Rio Grande do Sul.Like the North American cowboys, as discussed in Richard W. Slatta, Cowboys of the Americas, gauchos were generally reputed to be strong, honest, silent types, but proud and capable of violence when provoked. The gaucho tendency to violence over petty matters is also recognized as a typical trait.

Northumbrian pipers. We are NOT Scottish, thank you very much, because Northumberland is clearly in England.
>>5426065These ones are from a bit further south, but you can still see the same basic "Dirndl" and "Lederhosen" parts.
>>5426085>yfw you Regiao Sul stole every piece of culture from the Uruguayan/Argentiniansshould've let Garibaldi win. oh well, just stick to being "germun white". oktoberfest and such
>>5426083>Tribes requiring 1/32 degree blood quantum for membershipOH GOD NO ANYTHING BUT 1/32 BLOOD QUANTUM! ACCORDING TO RETARDS ON 4CHAN THAT IS SHAMING THEIR ANCESTORS!! DON'T THEY KNOW THEY ARE ~AMERICAN~???Fucking 4chan people I swear.
>>5426128The Indian ancestor is probably more ashamed that this is what his culture has come to: A descendant not remembering whether he is Algonquin.
>>5426120Look at those smug Nazis.
>>5426151Hes probably ashamed of his indianboo descendant.
>>5426156I would look like that as well if I saw an American, unless he showed me his folk costume- OH WAIT
>>5426127Well, I wouldn't say it was stolen, because it is the culture of the people who lived in this region before it was divided into different countries.Sharing the same culture might be the reason why many Gauchos get along well with those countries.
>>5426166Exactly. At this point he's prolly like:"Just forget about it dude. It's... It's not worth it. It's over.":*(
Since I am from Bavaria I would really like to see other German costumes.Or are we really the only ones that have preserved their culture?
>>5426151Well thats because I am not registered in any tribe so it makes zero difference in my life other than trivia to throw out at family get togethers and threads on /int/ if I want to make a bunch of retards mad. He should be happy I remember I am 1/32 Chippewa at all.>>5426166I posted the Algonquin because I am from Michigan and those are the traditional inhabitants. Dear lord.
>5426185
>>5425996>1/78th INJUN
>>5426182wut'cha talking about Willis, they don't get along with anybody, not even their own countrymen, they're elitist and think they're in New Bavaria when they're actually in Africa II.... just like the Argentineans..
>>5426185Saxony Anhalt here. Yep, you are. No one in middle germany wears trachten, no one knows how they once looked like either.
>>5426252MILF detectedi would headhunt tribal enemies and take a big puff on the peacepipe for a sweet night of loving with her
I'm also 3/16 French Canadian, and they also hung around Michigan for a while I guess. This is apparently what they dressed like.>in before my ancestors are ~rolling in their grave~ and I am a ~French Canada boo~
>>5426185There still are some more, like these famous ones from the Schwarzwald region. In the past there have been plenty of local and regional folk costumes as you can see http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tracht_%28Kleidung%29 but nowadays most of the traditional costumes have almost completely disappeared (except for some local "Trachtenvereine")Feels bad man ;_;
This is also cultural outfit from Brazil.

>>5426392>>5426413Oh boy, I really like these! Are they still common in your region or did communism kill them as it did in Eastern Germany?
>>5426422best one
Huasos. They are country side people, mostly poor, you cant understand shit of what they are talking, are usually very hard working, and ride horses all fucking day. Also, they are pretty fucking ignorant and religious as fuck. They are funny as fuck though.

>foreigners think America has no folk/regional outfitsThat's ridiculous, several of the outfits in this thread were still worn after the USA was formed. We still have groups of people that normally wear old outfits like the Amish, unlike in most European countries. I go to local markets all the time to get food and I regularly see Amish people in their silly outfits selling produce and home-made pastries.
>>5426664>We still have groups of people that normally wear old outfits like the Amish, unlike in most European countries. And thank God for that. Who could be proud of this ?
>>5426664We have goths. They dress in period clothes but look cooler. 1000x better than the Amish.
>>5426682It's kinda cute. Wouldn't say I'm proud but it's quaint, at the very least. A lot of the people who still dress like they're on the Oregon trail are religious fanatics though, like the Mormons.
>>5426695>Goths>Look coolAre you fucking kidding me? Lord of the Rings cosplayers look cooler than those faggots.
We still have working ranchhands in Texas and elsewhere in the American West.
>>5426707You should see Whitby during the goth festival. Period costumes everywhere, looks really cool. Maybe brit goths look better then the ones in your country.
>>5426727I like how cowboys and greasers made jeans cool for the rest of the world. Men and women. Pretty impressive imo. Good job USA
>>5426734Have you ever considered suicide ?
>>5426682It's kinda cute to go to the farmer's market and have 7ft tall Jebediah and his six daughters all dressed up in old-folk clothes sell you fresh butter and sweet rolls.I think it's kinda neat. Their food is really good too.>>5426695We had a lot of goths in America too. But that fad is pretty much over now.
>>5426734If the things in your pic are "Brit Goths" then lol no.Then again, what the fuck does a Eurofag know about "cool"? I guess the UK used to be cool in the 1960s or whenever but seriously?
>>5426792If you think you're cool then you're not. Yes, I'm looking at you.
>>5426734Oh look, a fat goth girl and a bearded guy too old to be hanging out with the kids. That's something you DON'T NOT SEE EVERY DAY.
New Hampshire
Pacific Northwestern regional costume.
swag hats
they don't exist anymore, but they were important in our local culture through the begining of the XX century, they were like the blues musicians back then, i mean, gentlemen of the suburbs

>>5425627>>Biblebelt still has a sizeable group of these btw. Wear the schools still demand girls/women in dress or get spanked and sent home to change.I know thew dutch had a religious zone/bible belt still but how fucking backwards for the Netherlands

One more. Our dresses are mostly white and red.
>>5427941her face is so ugly ...btw I want a t-shirt with national colors and ornament
Not Picture:alcohol
We don't really have any traditional dress (the nationalists tried to introduce one at the start of the 20th century, with kilts and shit, but it never caught on as kilts aren't traditional here), but here's the kind of dresses that are traditional in Irish dancing.I can't find a good picture, for some reason, but the dresses can be pretty much any combination of colours (i.e. they're not all like this)
