like to think that, as an American and a person go, I'm pretty fucking
open minded. I don't give two fucks about someone who is of different
sexual orientation, someone (a good friend in fact) who likes Anime a
lot more than I would consider "normal", and people who like to be
tree-hugging hippies. Perhaps this stems from my consistant use of
cannabis that I am pretty relaxed socially.
I digress. The point
is, I'm an open minded guy who believe that all people are created equal
and blah blah blah, libertarian crap.
HOWEVER, I do draw the
line at Japan. Don't get me wrong, I've go nothing against the Japanese
or their country personally, but their culture is insane. Due to the
stress they place on perfection, class structure, schooling, and other
foibles, they have turned into a very isolated, eccentric society.
This,
in turn, has led to the development of some "unique" ideas, such as the
ability to marry a video game/anime character or, in this instance, a
virtual hologram musician. This is something that, compared to the rest
of the world, is pretty fucking weird.
But the way I see it,
Japan is a dying society. Their aging populace, along with batshit
insanity of their culture, the growing number of shut-in otaku, will
leave us with a scarcely populated island within a few decades.
Hopefully, we will be able to rebuild their society so they aren't so
fucking insane.
But until the time comes, I believe that the
Japanese are entitled to be as fucking looney as they want, so long as
the mechas don't start attacking us.
Perhaps they should hold a
"Crazy People" convention every year. They could invite Jack Nicholson,
Mel Gibso, Charlie Sheen, Gaddafi, and Prince.
tl;dr: Relax, accept other cultures despite their insanity, and smoke some dope. |
