You seem to be under a false impression that kpop is mostly girls singing pop songs when it is about evenly split between girls/boys. Most of the fans of kpop are girls (whether in Brazil or in Japan or in the US). You only hear about Girls Generation (or SNSD) on 4chan because only male anon use 4chan and obviously these male anon arent going to fawn over boy bands.

Their official name is 소녀시대 which translates to Girls Generation. 소녀시대 romancized is So Nyuh Shi Dae. Fans take the first initials of So Nyuh Shi Dae and them SNSD.

In Japanese 소녀시대 is called 少女時代. 少女時代 romancized is Shoujo Jidai.
