Soccer is a children's game here, nobody plays it past middle school. Simple game for simple minds. Then they grow up to play big people sports that take more thought than "kick ball in net"
most good american athletes do not pursue soccer as they grow upit's going to be football, basketball, and maybe baseballif our athletes actually considered soccer to be more than a child's game and grew up playing it and then did so professionally then yeah, we would be a lot more competitive and would probably win tournaments on a regular basis.but as another poster said, it's viewed as a child's game. typically, suburban families will get their kid to play soccer for a few years and 99% of them grow out of it and play football.
