I live in a small city that seamlessly blends into small suburbs in such a way that it is possible to live a good life without owning a car, so I don't. But if you are seen walking in the suburbs people driving will shun you, people will look out from their houses and property suspiciously at you, and society at large will assume you are a derelict or "undesirable" person. I believe this behavior is the case in most developed countries outside of large cities where owning a car is the norm. Can you confirm /int/?

    Are you white?

If not, that's why they hate and distrust you. And rightfully so.

In the metro Detroit area, (not the City of Detroit) most of the people
you'll see walking along main roads are niggers.

If you do happen to see a white person walking, they are either losers
or ran afoul of our draconian drunk driving laws.

I'm beginning to think that's the result of American logistic's fail at designing their suburbs and generally doesn't occur in other countries.

No! Any place in Europe has well regarded pedestrians. The US is the only rich country where driving is imperative. No Problems with pedestrians in Japan, China, Turkey either.

New York City is the only major American city with commuting patterns similar to European cities.

Some say this is all part of a long term conspiracy by the auto industry in the US. After WW2, US car makers were rich and powerful from making tanks and other equipment and wanted to permanently secure their market. They pushed hard for the creation of a national highway system patterned after the German autobahn which resulted in the Interstate Highway System. The layout of the highway system interrupted and cut many older passenger rail lines as well. This plus the promotion of the "American Dream" which is that every competent US citizen will be able to have a house, a car, and a yard with a picket fence. This necessitated the creation of suburbs for those houses, a rather wasteful use of space and require a developed road and highway system to make suburbs possible. Suburbs are also to spread out for public transportation to be effective. Thus you have the modern American transport infrastructure.

Unless you live in a major city. Such as New York City, Washington, DC, Boston. America is a country that worships car ownership.

I think that pseudotripfag is from Argentina, therefore that (most likely wrong) spic commentary.

PROTIP: Saying that someone who isn't caucasian isn't white is nothing but a logical fallacy.

No, this is US specific shit. Great projection to the rest of the world tho, ignorance factor 10.

They are suspicious, because they runaway from downtown infested by negroes, spics and other riff-raff.

Macho culture, guns everywhere, atmosphere of fear, what do you expect?
