To further illucidate: why is it that when a non-American views a movie or reads a book penned by an American and they really enjoy it, they never say "Damn, those Americans sure know how to write an interesting book or make an amazing movie." The CIA involvement is embellished, but I won't deny they had a part in Latin America's problems. The majority of Americans have no idea about what the CIA has done and instead wonder why we don't give more attention to Latin America instead of Europe, the Middle East, East Asia etc. If anybody knew about the history of the CIA in South America, there might be more pressure on the government, but there isn't.
