I'd say to try working on not leaving streaks in your shading like you're doing. That can still easily be fixed on your drawings, though. You can either blend what you've currently got with a kleenex or your finger or something, or you can just go over it again with pencil to help blend. After that, you can start working with details. Adding better focus and details would make a big difference. Especially the eyes and hair. If you've got good, realistic and detailed eyes on a sketch, then it adds loads more to the drawing.

Other than that, it's not a bad drawing. Everything seems to be pretty well in proportion, so that's a big plus. Keep on practicing =)

don't. shit gets on there and then you end up with smears- and it's hard to erase because of the oils on you skin.

    LOL
I graduated with honors from a prestigious art school and I fucking smudged everything I ever made.

    wat?
You just went full retard, there is nothing wrong in smudge or finger blending

Btw, I even blend with my finger on oil paint (a pratice of Titian and Leonardo).

Who are you trying to fool? Are you trying to appear like a knowledge artist?

Am I the only one seeing the samefagging up in here?
but whatever. Keep practicing yadda yadda
nothing special or anything of great achievement, but you're getting somewhere

Aside from the terribly obvious samefagging.

You really should get away from finger smudging, OP. You aren't using charcoal or pastels (media that should ge smudged) you're using pencil, so why smudge unless you're just really fucking lazy?

Learn cross-hatching. Build your shadows and highlights, don't simply play fingerpaint with them.

    thanks everyone.

so i need to work on my rendering.
how do you suggest i go about this?
to be honest, i barely used my finger to smudge.. i would use my pencil to shade and then in certain area i would put my finger over it for a second to slightly blend it in.
should i not do that at all tho? should i go darker, more contrast?
    thanks.

Personally what I do to prevent certain values looking arbitrary and unconvincing is by starting off with a base pallets and build upon that value. Keep layering until you have a desired look. This can be tediuous especially with just a pencil alone but its worth it.
