Genzo can't admit Herrera taught him shortcuts he absorved so much into "his style" some people can barely distinguish some of their pictures.

That's the difference, and he did the same with Silva's drawing style, but the asshole can't man up and admit he stood in their shoulders to be where he is.

And yes, I played the game they worked together on and I saw Genzo turn from a basic animu amateur into the plastic he is now.

The highlights and shading he uses makes his characters look like plastic as opposed to real people. Sometimes he makes the center of the bodies a little thin too.
All in all though I like his color choices, and his faces are only rarely off. He'd have to be more skilled to draw competent comics though.

Also, why does he outline the muscles instead of shading the outline like with the legs?? it'd look so much better. His fingers are impossibly far apart. And other anon was right. His characters--oh, nope they're not his!!--look copy pasted onto the backgrounds. He needs to learn how objects interact with each other.

The problem I have with genzoman's art is that most of the characters he draws looks the same, his girls are all slut in appearance, his dudes are all bulky and angry, the only thing that I actually like about his art are his mytical creatures, but said creatures already exists, so that's not saying much. I don't mind the anatomy of his drawings as much as other people do, I guess he is trying to exaggerate the proportions of his characters, so that would explain why the heads or hips of the girls are so horrendously disproportionate, and like I said, he loves drawing HUGE guys, so I guess that expalins why he somewhat fails at female anatomy. I think he is better when he makes monster rather humans.

There could be another problems with his art, but that is what I find on his drawings.

Oh yeah, also his fanboys are annoying, praising every drawing he makes even when said drawing is poor in originality, and sometimes when someone makes a constructive criticism they go batshit insane, kinda like elsevilla's fanboys.

Obviously he is not the best artist that dA has to offer, but nevertheless I enjoy some of his drawings.

But they starve because they're largely unwilling or unknowledgeable about marketing themselves, getting their shit seen, making the connections that he has. Everyone wants to sit on their fat, pompous arses, complaining on a daily basis that no one has magically appeared on their doorstep, waved a wand and made them a sensation overnight. These are tinkly little dreams that do not come true for most of us. I should know.

GENZOMAN has found a niche and exploits it, the same way any fucker in /ic/ would in his position. He has a fan base, and it grows naturally. He has his good and bad days (naturally, only the worst offenders in his gallery would show up on a whinge/troll thread), but so does everyone. Not everything is or can be a masterpiece. But he's prolific, another thing that I'll wager the majority of the bitchers in this thread resent him for. And for the most part, his quality/quantity ratios are evenly balanced. There's skill in maintaining that alone.

Talent is merely a starting point in this life. Bitterness is probably worse tasting than dick, all told.

If you want to state that genzo's art is shit, that's fine there's plenty of reason to not like his work.

I don't mind it, indifferent to it. I can see why people would like it, bright varied colours, dynamic poses and composition and of corse the anime influence, which is still very popular. He seems very good at creating work that overall are very appealling and eye catching.

The reason he's popular is because he is very good at selling himself and his artwork. He established a strong recognisable brand with his work. Knowing who to talk to and what to say, and it's working for him and the companies who employ him after all he's making money for them. So really, why change?!?

I'm not saying his artwork is flawless every fault stated in this thread is perfectly valid critisim, mabye one day he will decide to improve at a technical level should he wish to progress his brand of artwork? But again, what he's doing now, works.
