    Hi d/ic/ks.

So i've never coloured anything and I'm starting now, coz I bought a wacom and I want to learn colour theory.

This is a little test I made right now and well, no idea what to think about it. Wadaya think?

how about reading the books about colour theory listed in obligatory critique copypasta page?
    >> Anonymous 01/27/10(Wed)15:02 No.583785
    It sucks.

Learn color theory... On the... Computer??? What the fuck man.. Just what the fuck..
That's like saying you're going to learn to draw and then tracing a bunch of pictures.

A lot of color theory is learning to see the relationships and interactions of red/blue/yellow.

Basically this. Color theory is needed when you need to MIX paints to get the color you want. Since you're using digital you don't need it.

thats part of making good colors, but not color theory. Color theory is mainly using the color wheel to know how colors react with eachtother. It's also the emotions that certain colors portray.

    compliments, analogous, etc

why cant you use color theory on a computer? its how colors work together/against eachother, and doing so digitally wont stop that. You're thinking of paint mixing.

A big part of learning to use that knowledge is learning to mix color. You think more about the color you are trying to get when mixing, versus picking it off the reel/swatch pallet. Like learning to draw only using the grid method.
Sure you will get a basic knowledge, but it will be textbook knowledge versus experience.
