    132 KB 10 tips for posting on /ic/ Anonymous 01/01/09(Thu)22:44 No.313571
    1. Post only work that you would like to get critiqued, or works that you can handle getting a harsh opinion for.
    2. Resize your shit. Posting your work does not mean posting the original, unresized scan, or the full 2000x3000 photoshop document. It takes a long time for 4chan to load images like that, and more often than not it's not worth it.
    3. Stop posting tablet threads. Get a Wacom or nothing at all. Generally the more expensive it is, the better it is, so use your best judgment.
    4. Do not baww if the only critique you get is "learn anatomy." Do not hide behind a "style" when your figures are anatomically inconsistent.
    5. We are not DA. Rarely will you get praise for your work here. Even if you do, be prepared for numerous people to prove that praise wrong.
6.Pay attention to the advice given in other threads. You may find something that applies to you.
    7. Do not ever remark "well let's see you do better" or anything similar. You do not need to be a chef to know when something tastes bad, just as a non-artist can tell when something doesn't look right.
    8. Whenever possible, participate in draw threads.
    9. The more specific you are when asking for advice, the more specific your advice will likely be. Asking for a general opinion tends to get fairly useless and/or broad answers.
    10. If your work is horrible, you will get called a troll. No exceptions.

There was a better version of this someone wrote and repeatedly posted for months. Where is it?
    >> Anonymous 01/02/09(Fri)14:46 No.313975
Oh shut the fuck up, this hardly helps anyone. /ic/ wouldn't be such a moron hole if it was "art discussion" and not "let's make you feel bad about your art"
    >> mewtwo guy rhides 01/02/09(Fri)14:48 No.313976

when you feel bad about something you previously thought was good, then you've been disillusioned. this epiphany of sorts allows you then to try becoming better.

If you can't see your own flaws, then why even draw? You gonna have people hold your hand forever? I'm constantly pointing out my own flaws, and working out ways to improve them.
    >> Anonymous 01/02/09(Fri)14:58 No.313981
i'd rather people post opinions on art, tutorials, discussions on diffrent types of art, tips on using media. Anything that helps everyone out, instead of barking at one stick figure at a time.

the purpose of drawing and the ability to are completely separate arguments.

    >>313981
we do get a few of those kinds of threads, but really if all the threads were like that it'd be more boring than it is right now.
    >> Anonymous 01/02/09(Fri)15:19 No.314001
DA is useful for advertising yourself, CA.ORG is good for art discussion and exercises. /ic/ is good for self rightous pricks to give shitty critiques to try and make people RAGE.

NONE OF THESE SITES ARE GREAT FOR CRITIQUING. Try making friends who understand art, and care enough about you to give who an honest critique.

Seriously, when do any of you critique to try to help someone improve? You don't! You do it to sound intelligent, piss someone off, or make yourself feel better about your own short commings.

If people actually knew how to critique, this could be a critique board but a general art discussion board is so much more useful.

And the only reason those arn't interesting to you is because you're more interested in drama than improving your art.

I'll just say that even if it's a deviantart tutorial, that head plane setup is surprisingly solid.
