Site should be functioning 100%, however we encourage all users do the following immediately:

1. Clear your DNS cache. Windows users enter "ipconfig /flushdns" at your command prompt (be sure to run it as an administrator). Mac users enter "dscacheutil -flushcache" at your Terminal window. *nix varies, but see here.
2. Clear your browser cache and cookies. This varies per browser but should be pretty straight forward.
3. Remove all entries for 4chan servers in your hosts file (if you've edited it). Windows users can find this at "%SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts" and Mac/*nix at "/etc/hosts". How do I edit my hosts file?

Draw thread is usually digital stuff and finished works.

This is for trad (stuff you'd find in a sketchbook) mainly.

pretty good, imo. just a few things.
did you just lay out some random strokes towards the end to make some parts look gray? kind of ruins it a bit since those strokes aren't present anywhere else.
when the bg is dark/colored, if you aren't going to shade everything, just treat it as white so the attempt at representing the color isn't mistaken for shading.

keep at it
>>
I don't do doodles and stuff in my sketchbook /ic/ would be proud of. I just do random drawings. No studies or nothing.

You're talking about the shading underneath the crest there? Yeah it was going off page and the sketch was nearing the 4 hour mark, so I sorta just trailed it off. It's hard for me to sit in one spot for that long so my mind was getting kinda impatient at that point..

Thanks for the feedback

Read Vilppu's drawing manual. He goes over some drawing techniques and writes some about how shapes are connected to eachother which really helps with foreshortening
Otherwise just learn how the muscles work through life drawing.
And for light/shape, from what I can see, your rendering doesn't follow the form and you don't seem to understand where the planes are. It looks shaded in random places. Your chosen medium doesn't help either.

Not a fan of that smudging. I'd rather use the side of the pencil or hatch. It's cleaner and imho also faster.

The white of the paper is the whitest white you are able to use in your drawings. Therefore, only let it show for bright highlights. Everything else should be darker.

I drew this eagle. it's blue because i have a weird scanner, and i don't know how to change the sensitivity or contrast or whatever, so half of it gets scanned too light to see. if anyone has any tips to fix it, that'd be great.

also, whoever does the dinosaur skulls, mind if i save? seems like it'd be a pretty cool collection once expanded.
>>
>>1189164

What pencil did you use for these?
>>
>>1189833

Yeah, that's as easy as going over the whole page with the side of the pencil then bringing back out the highlights. You're absolutely right though.

It's not 5 percent done, it's more like 35 or 45. thanks.

By the way, I do like your skull. You get way more done in 25 minutes then I do. I'm trying to not be so deliberate but I wanna get some quality sketches in, so I'm kind of taking my time with these.

Here is as far as I'm gonna go with this.. In total, 150 minutes. I tried to pay more attention to values and to leave the white of the paper as the whitest part of the skull. I don't think I was too successful but it was an effort. The whole front of the skull is stretched but I'm not about to erase the entire front half.

I would play with your line weight here. you have the side facing the light having a definite darkish outline and the shadow side has no outline. Try to invert this methodology.

I really am trying to consciously figure where the light is coming from and why it's hitting spots in certain ways. It's tough to NOT draw exactly what you see in a picture.. which is why maybe I should hit up a museum or something. But I'm not making an excuse, I'm putting in a good effort I think...

Probably not the best reference for someone who is dark-phobic, but whatever.. Tear it apart if you like.

Do you think i should practice on learning anatomy and proportions first via pencil sketches(what i have the most experience in), or should i practice anatomy while also exploring other mediums? i'm thinking i should wait until i have the basics ingrained in my brain, but i don't know, i'm pretty new to serious art.

i have at my disposal
-pencils, graphite and charcoal
-watercolor pencils(i've not used them yet. color like a pencil, then paint with water?)
-grade school quality coloring pencils
-acrylic paints
