  • Attention 4chan extension/user script/archive developers: Some time in the next few days, we'll be rolling out a complete HTML rewrite of the imageboards.
The design will remain the same, but the underlying HTML/CSS is completely new, and validates HTML5/CSS3 (with some tweaks to account for cross-browser compatibility).

Please visit this thread to read more about the changes, and here to preview the code.

As a regular user, these changes should not affect you. You will need to update your 4chan browser extensions/user scripts when their maintainer updates them to be compatible with the changes.
The official 4chan Chrome extension will be ready to go when the updates happen, and 4chan X should be ready soon. We'll post more details on the day of the migration!

It's just a webcomic you faggots. No one gives a shit about art in a webcomic. Being a good artist certainly does NOT improve a webcomic either. For example I for one would be creeped the fuck out if the guy who draws Cyanide & Happiness suddenly had actually realisticly drawn humans in his panels.

I haven't implied anything like that. But people on /ic/ always criticize the drawing ability of this dipshit, same with Fuckley. My point is that no one reads a webcomic because they want to look at good art or decent drawings. It's throwaway jokes aimed to get a slight grin out of some bored guy who browses that shit at work. Even stick figures are an acceptable "art style" in a webcomic.

Romantically Apocalyptic is all smoke and mirrors.

He photoshops himself into traced landscapes. Hardly impressive draftsmanship.

Though you could argue that the ends are all that matter, not the means.

Not bad (I've seen worse in stuff like Scott Pilgrim), just wrong. It's like the artist can't draw his stylized features in perspective so instead just shifts the face to the side of the head. I see many web-cartoonists do this, and it looks awful.

Most "stylized" comic art looks like the artist can't handle their own stylizations, and get around posing their characters by doing cheats (like, if a character is going to look up, the artist will disconnect the head from the neck, and draw a new symbol to represent the bottom of the head). There's nothing wrong with bending the rules, but nothing will substitute for learning how to draw.

I remember that guy. When that Art4Love scandal was happening he threw a shit fit trying to hunt down the guy behind it. He was ready to display personal information of the Art4Love guy and say he was in the right for doing so. Sorta like an act of mindless retaliation, and was backed by the majority of his fans.

I told him he was being over zealous and he blocked me and said something relative to me being an enabler of art thieves. While that may be true, the blocking part was a bit harsh for just a single piece of criticism lol.

i don't get the pull of niggling away at stuff that turns you off. don't pick at scabs that make you rage, it just irritates them. if you think it's shit, it'll be healed over and gone from your awareness if you just leave it to itself.

his art will eventually get better...what won't get better is his writing.

as a comic artist myself the last thing I want to write about is the day to day bs of actually being a cartoonist. He obviously has illusions of grandeur and should really explore some other topics.

The man has been drawing the exact same way for years.

He has hit a plateau and he doesn't care to progress further than where he is at. He has fans, and will continue to make more and more as time passes. He has no aspirations to become more than what he is, and he is contempt where his level of work is at.

He will never become better because he doesn't create artwork for the sake of creating artwork. He creates artwork for the sake of garnering attention, and if his current level of work accomplishes that then he does not even register becoming better as a goal. I've seen plenty of people like him before, and they remain in a place where they feel adequate. He isn't running away from getting better, he just stays where he is at.
