I see no reason why life size gundams couldn't be built right now. We have the tech look at robots like asimo that can walk by them selfs. It would just need to be scalled up we could probably even make them fly

the problem is indeed in the power source and propulsion technology. Nuclear engines could probably power something like this as far as movement and combat, but flight would need something different all together. Almost all forms of propulsion engines require fuel to burn but nuclear engines only produce electricity.
