Get a car that handles well (RWD is generally better). If it snows where you live, get a 2nd set of wheels and run separate summer and winter tires. RWD is fine with snow tires, unless you get the really deep stuff.

Don't worry about power or getting a high-end car, at first. Your first few cars should be varied and each teach you something (FWD vs RWD vs AWD, stick shift vs DCT vs CVT vs slushbox, turbo vs NA, lightweight momentum vs brutish pigs, diesel vs petrol, front engine vs mid vs rear, etc).

Do some autocross. If you have a beater, do some rally cross or ice racing.

Not sure but the color might be an artifact of the filter on the lens when the pic was taken. Some filters for UV light will shift blue colors on 35mm. The armco looks like Watkins Glen.

The cost of competing got to be too high unless you had a full factory effort behind your program. Plus the European equivalent series had moved to 3.5 liter engines, which only increased the cost of having a competitive program in IMSA since the front line IMSA was mostly turbo engines up to that time. The WSC category was created in 1992 with the first race in 1993.
