Local politicians. Didn't Florida just outlaw all computers?

Politicians who don't read bills or understand them are dime a dozen. Those that do are stuck with being in the same room as the other idiots. What sucks is when you have a really old idiot, who everyone has to kowtow to because his daddy wasn't an idiot and managed to do something right.

To be stay on topic, i get most of my television via international sources. Basic cable is full of garbage and the remaining niche channels are getting there.

Primarily because they don't want to compete with internet sources and rather go after the dumb eyeballs with disposable income.
>>
>>35263090

>>35263352

But then how would I cap and transcode TV shows for personal use
>>
>>35264070
Why would you want to do that?
>>
I had cable 4 years ago, before my asshole roommates moved out & stiffed me on the bill. Never again. And I had Netflix forever, but canceled a year & a half ago when I switched to Linux.

Now I just stream everything off primewire (former 1channel) Personally, there's only a handful of shows I follow, but my wife loves that site. Surprisingly, I never hear about any other /g/ents using it.

Of course vid quality isn't great, but really it doesn't matter for something one's only gonna watch once. I'll torrent the odd movie I feel like saving & watching repeatedly.
>>
>>35264264
What's so special about primewire? Is it legal?
>>
>>35264345
Probably not totally legal, but safer than torrents.
It's basically a search engine that links to various file hosting sites with uploads of whatever show/movie you're looking for. They don't actually host anything. You search for a movie or whatnot, and there's a bunch of links to various file hosting sites that have a copy of that movie available to stream. The only downside is most of those sites tend to delete stuff once it's not being accessed anymore, so if you're trying to find episodes of a TV show a few seasons old, there might not be a lot (or any) of links available. But for popular stuff it's pretty good. And honestly, it's the same problem you have finding torrents with no seeders.

The advantage is that unlike torrenting, your IP is only revealed to primewire & the vid hosting site, and ISPs don't block it (not that I know of) Plus, for a show you're only gonna watch once, there's no point in saving & wasting valuable HDD space (though you can just save the vid file from your browser cache if you really want)

I think it's pretty cool, and really convenient. Better than fucking Hulu anyway. Make sure you have adblock though, they have a fuckton of annoying popups.
