Yup, works good so far.

What is wrong with that aurora icon by the way, any way to change its color or something?

You can't really do anything to it, that's how the developers designed it.

>>35749613
Then what the hell is this?
Never said the start menu came back with it.

That's a Start button, as people asked for it, they put it back. The problem is they should have thought that people wanted the Start MENU with it as well.

It's not the Start button. It's for Metro interface. Can you stop trolling ?
>>
>>35750456
It's a button that opens the Start screen though.
>>
>>35750112
>>35750456
Have you even used the Metro interface? It's good. Stop being fucking stupid and move on. The start menu is outdated as fuck. Keep using windows 7 or some shit.
>>
>>35750510
>Have you even used the Metro interface?
Yes, I'm on a windows 8 PC as I type this.

>It's good.
Its shit, its not information dense enough, the design guidelines are a complete joke, and there are no good apps.

>Stop being fucking stupid and move on. The start menu is outdated as fuck. Keep using windows 7 or some shit.
Its not anymore outdated than the start screen. Glanceable information such as live tiles are only REALLY useful when you're on a device that needs to have its screen off most of the time (as in smartphones), so as you press the power button you're put in a place where you can quickly be updated with everything as quickly as possible. In the case of desktop/laptops, most people will be on the computer constantly for longer periods, besides needing glanceable information when they start up the computer from this point on all new information is already instantly delivered to them via pop up or notification as they use the computer.

You don't know shit about UX design.

But that button takes you to the start screen, which has far more functionality and visual appeal than the start menu ever had.

your point?
>>
>>35754869
So am I, but because developing on OS X is such a pain in the ass, I'll drop it.

Seriously, not a single decent git client whatsoever.
>>
>>35746996 (OP)
Can you disable the stupid start button?
>>
>>35754969
This. Removing the start button was the best idea they had in Windows 8.

In 8.1, they should've brought back the classic start menu instead. But no, they did the exact opposite, those fucking losers.
>>
>>35754959
>not a single decent git client
8/10
>>
>>35754989
No, I'm fine with metro I just don't want a silly redundant button wasting space. I used startkiller on windows 7. Anyone who didn't was retarded.
>>
>>35754997
Got any suggestions? Tower was decent, but 60€ for a git client? No way.

Everything else is just for browsing and commiting. I need functions like stashing, and stashing before pulling. You'd think these would be obvious features to put in a git frontend.

I also doubt there's a good program for resolving merge conflicts.
>>
It's not like I have a problem with modern ui either, I only use it for looking for programs anyway (Start button, type program name).
However, the start menu was less distracting.

Is there any way to install Launchy so it launches when pressing the windows key? Would be perfect for me.
>>
>>35755040
No answer, I should have known.

I think that explains why IOS apps suck so much dick. The developers can't even work together properly on OS X.
>>
>>35755168
The state of OS X app development is horrible. If you want a simple program that should already be a feature in OS X (like a per-program channel mixer), there's probably only two or three apps available, each of them either an abandoned PowerPC app or costing $10.
>>
Theres a program called Pokki or something that gives you a nice start menu, I don't even use the stupid fucking tablet wannabe desktop.
>>
>>35755419
Yeah, seriously, even linux distros are more feature complete than OS X.

You'd think it would be good since the hardware's so expensive, but nope.
"The world's most advances Operating System" my ass.
>>
>>35755075
I just have it to alt+spacebar.
Not really harder than pressing winows.

Could people not figure out hot corners or something?

>>35755955
Yeah, that's how it works on OS X too (spotlight).
Really comfortable. Though I prefer to have it on the windows key, otherwise this huge button is just wasted.

>setup a hackintosh
>realize no window snapping
>in trash it goes, etc.
>>
>>35756138
Yeah, that too.
With o many little things that are wrong with OS X, it's just worthless. You know a desktop sucks if even Linux distros do better.
>>
>>35754959
>not a single decent git client
Why not just
brew install git
>>
Not the command line, of course that works.
However, for browsing through commits, reversing commits, comfortably commiting certain changes and everything, you need some sort of GUI, unless you're a neckbeard with a mechnical keyboard on steroids.
>>
>>35756373
Anyway, I found this neat application called sourceTree that more or less does all the things I need.

However, windows is still the better OS, objectively.
>>
>>35756412
All OSes are more or less even in functionality when used and modified correctly.
It's the degree of time and effort, as well as bias, that makes people think otherwise.
