Slackware master race here, we beat the other distros to the end of the world.

im running LMDE and i really enjoy it. Have had no problems with it at all except getting steam installed and running. It only took 20 minutes and a few searches to get it going. Super stable, fast as hell, and all the customization i wanted. I know mint isnt really /g/ approved but ive liked it over all the other distros i have tried.

I just use gnome shell with ubuntu.

It's not hard to do. If you add ppas you can get a fairly decent 3.8 system (some things still missing like xinput2) but it's mostly great.

Arch can be that. I use arch and installing it can be a huge bitch sometimes. I would still recommend trying it again, and using your smrtphone/laptop/whatever to follow a guide when you dont know what to do.


But otherwise use fedora or mint. Those are pretty great distros that dont add a ton of shit and change all the time.

Anyone find their browsing is slow in ubuntu/mint? It seems that dnsmasq is started by networkmanager to do dns resolving, and something about this makes it slow.
