What's a good software to use to rip bootlegged dvds into .avi?

I want to watch the video on my android but I don't know if I can watch dvd rips on it so I'm(hopefully) gonna go with avi rips.

I'm Not OP
MX player is a great player but it seems to stutter on H.264 and High quality videos so I too need to convert them to a lower quality.

hand-brake

my Linux on ARM device plays 480p .mp4s well

You may also consider a format which respects your freedom such as .ogg or .mkv

Movies come pretty cheap nowadays.

$10/$15, sometimes even less than $10.

Just order the movie off Amazon and do your encodes.

Alternately, the local retailer and encode your movie/movies once you get home.

wow so if I want to watch one movie every day it will only cost me $70 to $100 a week? $280 to $400 a month? Yeah I can easily afford that with the approximately $0 disposable income I have. I guess Im just not privileged enough to watch a lot of movies...
