First time because I wanted to burn a DVD with Nero and it asked for a serial and wasted an entire afternoon looking for one.

Then I booted Ubuntu, installed it and burned my fucking DVD in 2 minutes.

I could have known about Infrarecorder, but well.

I still have windows installed on my PC for a few games, but most of my time is now spent on debian.

I haven't yet, but I am thinking about it. Can't decide which distribution I should try.

initially it was to get better performance from shit hardware, but then I got a better laptop and installed GNU+Linux because I fell in love with the way everything just werked. Package management and multiple virtual desktops by default are two features I really love.

i never really fully switched because there are just some things i can't do without windows thanks to idiot vendor lock in.

so i still have a (unpaid) win7 vm at home and work and an (unpaid) win7 install at home for when i want muh gaymes.

otherwise, i'm a programmer and scripter and webdev professionaly so i like my OS-as-IDE

my computer couldn't run games anyway and linux boots faster and is generally more responsive than windows. also linux is prettier

Linux Mint is pretty much ubuntu with some extra software packages and codecs, and it doesn't install Unity or any of the Amazon shopping dog shit. You should try the Cinnamon version, and if you don't like Cinnamon install KDE and XFCE and a billion other DEs until you find one you like.

I was through with windows xp, my system was dirty fucked up like all old windows zp installations are, then I catch some annoying and aggressive scam virus, so I tried oobangoo and find out that linux is quite user friendly and is more modern than windows, it's even more user friendly than windows. And you don't have to pirate stuff, everything is legal, for free and just werx. I stick with oobangoo OS.

Had to have Mint for work. Fell in love and experimented with other distros. Never turned back.

Because I get 5-6 hours from my laptop with #! and 2-3 with windows when using it to take notes.
