I think I've finally grown out of video games. For the last 6 months I've enjoyed nothing I've played. I try and take breaks to see if I'm burnt out. but every time I come back it's the same. Every game feels like I'm watching the same movie 20 times, regardless of genre. I now get aggravated listening to all my online friends debate about trivial video game bullshit. I have all this PC technology and I've wasted all these years playing on them instead of learning. And now that I've run against a wall, I don't know what to do with myself anymore. It's as if something concrete about myself that's always been there has had its foundation removed and now there's an empty space that needs to be filled with something else.

Have any of you ever come to this point before? Also, I know this is kinda /v/ related, but I can't talk seriously about anything with them.
>>
Congratulations, you are almost a man now
>>
It's more commonly known as growing up.
>>
You are going through a depression.
>>
try programming private servers for a game you used to have fun with, that's what I do now
>>
Had this after I stopped using adderal for recreational use
>>
>>34849767 (OP)

It's a good thing I did figure out shit AND play games, through modding and fucking around with files.

It's unfortunate you just stuck to 1 game and never tried creating anything for it. If you're that depressed, see someone. I'll always enjoy them.

/v/ is a festering shit hole, though.
>>
>>34849913
That's why you don't do drugs.
>>
>>34849875
this.

try n cheer up bub

although i do agree, there hasn't been a good game in what feels like years
>>
OP are you depressed? Serious question.

But if you aren't, I know exactly where you're coming from. I used to game whenever I possibly could. I just finished my freshman year of college, and for some reason I stopped enjoying games about halfway through. The only thing I can play now are games with excellent stories or strategy games.

You could always find some new hobbies

I have periods where I don't play for months, though I never stopped gaming.

One of my friends used to game all day. Now he watches anime all day because games all felt the same. I think, the ironic thing is, at some point, all anime will be the same to him and he'll have to re-start the cycle somewhere else.
>>
OP here.

I suppose it could be depression but it's not an external source and being bored with video games are a result. The being bored with video games is the cause.

It's very strange, in the last few months especially, I've begun to realize just how much video games had influenced my personality and belief system, as silly as that sounds. But now that that foundation is disappearing and I'm starting to see it for what it really is, everything built from it also seems very diminished.

And now I have all this free time, I don't know what to fill it with. A real first-world problem, I know.

I feel like I'm going through the same/similar thing, I've just had exams so it hasn't been much of a problem but now I've got a 2.5 month holiday.

It has nothing to do with depression. I went through the same thing when I was ~20. One day you just become aware of how banal video games really are. Congratulations, you're growing up.
>>
You haven't grown out of videogames.

Its just that recent videogames have all been shit
>>
Because there are no recently good videogames out.

I want to hype shitty games and laugh at memes.

Why is /g/ the best board?
Well, except for desktop threads and guts threads.
>>
>>34849767 (OP)
I kind of have the same problem op. You see, I was a nintendofag in the 90s, and I did enjoy games until playstation 1. Since then, I can't seem to find a game that I would love to play. I dont' know whether I grew up or good games don't exist anymore.

>Have any of you ever come to this point before?
For half a year or something.

Also gaming and studying goes along fine. You don't need to read fiction books. You don't need to watch shows. Games are normal media thing.

But yes, it's all the same.
All games are the same and pointless.
All movies are the same and pointless.
Most books are the same.
All shows are the same and pointless.
All discussions are the same and pointless.

Now man the fuck up and start enjoying things. Get a hobby.

If you're a grown man who actually thinks like this, you ARE depressed.

I played all the way through that.
Good story. Boring gameplay.

Same here, I can't stand vidya anymore because I'd rather be doing things practical.

You don't "grow out of." an entertainment medium
Either you had a very lackluster experience playing games growing up, you havn never played a truly great video game in your whole life, or you have autism
Either way, I feel very bad for you OP

>>
>>34849767 (OP)
You know, you CAN be productive and enjoy video games at the same time
playing vidya does not make you childish
Oh wait! you have autism! Autistic people can only handle one extreme or another
Don't be autistic OP
>>
>>34849767 (OP)
> Every game feels like I'm watching the same movie 20 times, regardless of genre
You play VERY shitty games OP
Try playing some Nintendo games or something
>>
>Have any of you ever come to this point before?
Normal adults grow out of this before 25.
>>
>>34853979
>stops caring about a children's medium
>u just didnt have awesome games & are autistic!!
hahaohwow, >>>/v/
Yes, you can "grow out of" your children's medium, sorry to burst your bubble.
>>
>>34853979

You can. I've been getting bored of loads of older anime. I've only been watching currently airing shows.
>>
>>34854100
Not him but
Sorry to break your autism circlejerk bro, but a lot of adults play video games
The problem isn't video games, the problem is just OP
>>
>>34854100
Autistic people tend to socialize more on social forums or image boards, as it is very difficult for them to properly socialize in real life
Autistic people tend to behave very irrationally at conflicting idea outside of their control or opinion
Sorry you have autism dude :3

Son, I have been playing games since I got my Commodore 64
I've played it all, from Pacman at the arcade, to pretty much every Mario game from the original to Galaxy, to every online shooter from Quake 3 to TF2 I have owned every single Nintendo console from the NES to the Wii, including handhelds from the original GameBoy to the 3DS, additionally, I have owned a PS1, PS2, PSP, Xbox, and Xbox 360
Games are fun OP, they are a collection of visuals, music, level design, and gameplay, in a combination known as "The experience"
The problem simply isn't games, its just you
>>
>>34854057
but Nintendo is the very definition of rehash
>>
>>34854305
they rehash within their own titles though,
Nintendo games typically don't follow the norm of American game sellouts (They aren't all brown and bloom zombie dubsteb shooter 5)
I think it would be a refreshing step in the right direction for OP

OP, I have been the same way since I started actually leaving the house and doing shit outside of my shitty room. Built an awesome gayman PC, had Z box live. Let Zbox run out (Don't care, play one campaign of L4D2 maybe once every 3 months.) My internet usage went from 200 GB a month down to less than 30, started losing weight from sports, met some girls. Don't be upset if your life changes for the better.
