Once they go away or are busy helping the technology retarded person you hit override and each menu is different but usually there is a "credit" or "override" option that lets you set item price temporarily to zero. Some high ticket items will require manager input so dont try it with a TV.

Put your hand on the scale and press down, it'll cause it to register and skip that stupid warning. When you scan a new item the system is programmed to wait 10 seconds (roughly) to detect a change in the weight of the items on the scale - if it doesn't detect the change it then puts up that alert.

Pretty simple stuff to figure out - scan an item, put it in the bag on the scale or press on the scale till the alert disappears.

I can do 20+ items in under a minute with one of those automated checkouts these days, piece of cake.

Who the fuck would want to use this shit? You have to pick out your groceries yourself, take them to the register and checkout yourself? That's bullshit.

Really? i use them every time. an id scanner would be nice. I have had rare problems with the bag weight scanner being off and not detecting weight, or it not being sensitive enough for an items weight.

If you have more then like say 10 items and there's a Express lane open, It's almost always faster to use the Express lane.

just so you guys know i work at a grocery store when university is out in the summer and they have cc cameras pointed at every self-checkout station. just yesterday i had to call a manager over because some cunt scanned all his items, caused an error on the checkout screen, and then left without paying. when i went over to cancel the error message it was still on the "insert cash" screen and by going back i could see everything he had rung up. needless to say the managers reviewed the security footage for that.

Really? The average time per scan for me is about 1 per 1 1/2 seconds or thereabouts.
It's hard to beat a cashier in that department, the store I worked for 7 years ago won checkout operators of the year every other year and their average scan between the entrants was 0.8 scans per second. Muscle memory is hard to beat.
