Hey guys I'm going to proposition my mom to upgrade this PC.

I run an hp pavillion d4650y, it has 1gb of ram and an nvidia 7300 LE in it. It has a new power supply, so it would be wise of me to check this yes?

Pretty much, I just want to be able to play LoL. I don't need to play it on medium settings as long as the damn game runs on low with about 50-60 fps, I WOULD BE VERY VERY HAPPY!

I'm not really sure if ram matters for gaming but I assume having only 1gb does. I want to get at least 1gb, but I want the bulk of the money to go to a graphics card.

I have about $100-$120, I tried picking a gfx card myself but I just don't understand how Nvidia makes their graphics card models.

I was looking at 9800GTX but I honestly can't find how much they run for or where to buy them at.

Can someone also explain how nvidia graphics cards work.

I assume it's like this, they made the 1000s series up until 9000s then they restarted at 100s, but that doesn't necesarily mean 9000s are worse they're just older right? It's more about like 9800 is good but 9000 is a lower end model for that generation?

You're going to need more than 1GB of RAM, 2 should be enough for LoL. As for the card, if you're picking something older then go for the 8800GTX

Would an 8800GTX work on my machine vs a 9800GTX? Also what's the difference power wise? How nice will it run LoL, how much does it cost? Where can I buy one from, online is good, but if there's like certain stores that sell them that would be very cool I would love to buy it and install it today.

I think my monitor is big too which kind of fucks me. Yeah I know I'm an idiot, but no one showed me the way of the PC so I sort of had to walk this road alone.
