Have you ever wondered why when you purchase a flash drive, you never get the 8gb-64gb that it claims you get? On my 32gb flash drive, I only get 28.8gb of space. I believe the reason why is due to NSA secretly storing their backdoor files on my flash drive so they know what I'm uploading and transferring on to each computer I use it on. Is this possible /g/?
>>
no

then why don't I get the amount of space claimed? It's as if something is hidden on my flash drive taking up gigs of space!

I believe they're just saying that so people don't ask for a refund.

I haven't heard about this for flash drives, but putting backdoors in hidden drive partitions is extremely common practice among PC manufacturers. They typically claim it's for "diagnostics" if you ever bring the computer in for repairs. Yeah right.

I bet you dont even tinfoil

We sci-fantasy now.

No, manufacturers measure capacity by base 10. 1 megabyte = 1,000,000 bytes. Windows (and I believe OSX and Linux) measure 1 megabyte = 1,048,576 bytes. In other words, 1,024 kilobytes, where 1 kilobyte = 1,024 bytes.

because Windows shows you space as GiBs, not GBs.
1TB drive has 932 GiB of space (1000GB).

now, nstall gentoo faggot.

for some reason the least thread got deleted
so i posted it again

a Mod is evidently a NSA agent on here and didn't want you guys to know about this groundbreaking post that will baffle the technological world but maybe that's not true because this post has lasted more than a few minutes now

Are you actually this fucking stupid?

Mismatched specs, filesystem overhead.

10/10 did chuckle.

Just in case you are actually this stupid, you might want to read up on bits, bytes and calculate the difference between GiB and GB. You will also want to look up file systems and how they work.

Have you ever wondered why when you purchase tinfoil, you never get the full brain wave blocking capabilities they claim you get?

Truth is big tin and the NSA are actually the same company knitted together through Jewish schemes.

Tl;dr Tin foil actually AMPLIFIES brain control waves
>>
>>34619966
This is actually true.

>>34619966

That is why I gave up tin foil years ago and switched to aluminum foil. It has the added bonus of having TWICE the brain-waive blocking capabilities when you fold it over to make it twice as thick. AND when I buy the kilo-folded version it actually comes with an extra 24 layers, which is awesome.
