This just in homies

Today we are releasing the first Linux Public Beta version of Lightworks, this means any user wishing to test the Linux Beta version can do so by visiting the link below, filling out the short form and agreeing to the Terms and Conditions:

www.lwks.com/betas-linux

This Beta version contains the new EditShare Licensing Service (ELS) which will allow users to sign in to the application using their Lightworks Username and Password (an internet connection MUST be present on the system) When signing in each new user will be automatically given a complimentary seven day Pro license to test the Pro version of Lightworks, this is renewable at the end of the seven days by simply signing back in to the application.

The Linux Beta does not include trial AVID DNxHD licensing due to the restrictions imposed by AVID. We will shortly be adding the option to the Lightworks Shop www.lwks.com/shop for users to purchase an AVID DNxHD license specifically for the Linux version.

There are still some limitations with the current Linux build which can be found on the Linux Beta page above.

Many thanks to all those Linux Alpha Testers that continually submitted feedback and helped get the Linux version to Beta stage.

Yep.

All of it is bullshit anyways.

Also, people actually buy Windows OR Mac OS X? I don't think anyone does. People either pirate it and/or it comes with their computer. This thread is full of dumb bullshit, fanboyism and lies.

The screen is not 1000$

find me a quality ips display of the same specs for under 1000
>>

>Trusting the value of a product to be the cost to the manufacturer.
Its like they really don't understand economics and markup. Do they seriously think fucking apple buys a screen for $999, and puts it in the computer at no profit? They fucking get those screens for $100, and sell them with a $900 markup.
Whoever made that infographic is a retard who understands nothing about retail pricing.

That rustled my jimmies.
>>
>>33442815
>implying apple pays retail prices for their parts
>implying that that imac has dedicated graphics
>implying apple pays for their own operating system
>IMPLYING APPLE PAYS THE SAME TO MAKE THEIR OWN KEYBOARD, MOUSE, AND DISPLAY AS THEY CHARGE CONSUMERS FOR IT

that really rustled me
>>
>>33442815
The thunderbolt panel only takes around $200 to make
>>
>>33442778
This is stupid in every way. I am also not even mad because of that.

That's giving prebuilt values to a custom built value. When you build a windows machine, you will not pay $999 for some shitty over priced. Not even over $400 for the most part. Neither will you pay $100 for someone to put it together for you.

Go buy a computer from bestbuy or walmart with it being prebuilt. That's the same result.
>>
>>33442972

I am at this moment looking at a monitor for which I paid less than four hundred dollars and which has the exact same panel in it as does the iMac’s display, and that’s after the huge markup I paid for getting it out of South Korea.
>>
>>33442978

but the ips monitors they used arent really available for much cheaper anywhere yet
>>
>>33442972
you may not find one with glass on it but IPS panels of most kinds that aren't those 200 dollar korean ones all do the same thing and usually sport 27 inches, 2560x1440 or 1600, have display, HDMI, and DVI in on them and are of course IPS

I know dell makes one for 600
>>
>>33442815
It's blatant bullshit because it forces inferior Apple products.

The Dell Ultrasharp that the Cinema display is based on is cheaper and has more colour depth. The Apple keyboard is poundshop trash and the mouse is, strangely enough, done better by Microsoft.

>>33442896

the korean ones are the reject monitors. i have a crossover monitor. the only reasopn theyre cheap is because they are from a lot of poor quality control full of possibilities of backlight bleeding and dead pixels
>>
>>33442815
Sure, for anyone that wouldn't pay 1000 for an IPS screen because they don't need one (Which is nearly every mac user by the way by numbers) the value of that screen to them is lower. You don't need a 1000 dollar screen to use word and shit
>>
>>33442972
They literally sell rebranded thunderbolt displays on ebay for half the price for a perfect version, and you can get one for $250 if you are willing to have <5 dead pixels
>>
>>33443043
dell does not make a 27" ips monitor for 600 dollars
>>
>>33442625
I never understood this logic. Labeling Windows PC's as something that costs more than Apple's like that makes no sense at all.

Apple-fag logic.

>the korean ones are the reject monitors

I’ve had zero problems with mine. Not a single dead pixel and no backlight bleeding. Granted, it’s a different brand (Yamakasi as opposed to Crossover), but I’ve seen no sign of the QC problems that supposedly plague these monitors on this or any of the other four or five I’ve seen.

Not my point, my point is there are people to whom a 1000 dollar monitor is worth 1000 dollars but it's probably not you or the average mac user. Graphic designers etc. could justify it
