Thinkpad Edge, I bought it because it was a 12" laptop with an i5 @ 2.3ghz and 4gb RAM, but I got it and the display/build quality sucks. Well, I bought a few things lately that I regret. First, I bought a 3.0 ghz processor that could have been a 3.2 for about 30 cents extra. I also bought a video card that could have been better. I just bought a case fan, keyboard, and mouse a few hours ago, so lets hope I don't regret them. Fortunately, they are much easier to repackage than an internal computer part, so I wouldn't mind returning them if they are too bad.

Sure, I got it fixed for free at that point (it was less than 2 years old at that point and well within warranty), but at that moment I started considering the options when it comes to a replacement. WP7 and iOS were not viable due to being what I call "software prisons" and I wasn't going back to buggy and laggy android, so what I finally got was an N9 which has so far been the best smartphone I've ever had.

I do this and it's definitely one of the better choices I have made. Mic is definitely good enough for my purposes. Meanwhile I hear shit and static through games all the time from retarded headset kids. Also sometimes their mic is so bad that it sends a signal so loud that it effectively mutes everyone else and even some sounds.

Alienware m14x
I had read all the alienware bashing on /g/ but still went ahead and got it.
Was honestly great for about 6 months.
Then the overheating started....
Massive fps drops in games, stuttering, applications taking ages to load, etc etc
Mobile i5 CPU is a piece of shit
>had to disable turbo-boost
>had to disable hyperthreading
>finally heat became manageable
Screen has dead pixels, and is generally shit-tier quality
So it's basically a £1000, 4cm think, overheating, turbo-fanning, slow, internet-in-bed-browsing brick, with glowing lights.

And to think I got it despite having a decent gaming build in the SAME.FUCKING.HOUSE.

I was actually leaning towards the Win 8 RT to give for my dad, but apparently it doesn't support javascript?

I'm not even sure if it runs Adobe Flash Player for Facebook games since that's what my dad does quite a lot if he's on standby from work.

What were you wearing before? I find mine really comfortable, personally, but every set of headphones I previously owned were ultrashitty.
>>
I'd say the Asus P4P800 SE-motherboard I once bought has probably got to be the worst tech purchase I've made considering all the headaches it caused when it broke down piece-by-piece and I was too much if a jew just to replace it.

Here's how it went down (in order of parts that broke down):
>RAID controller goes haywire and I loose all of my files
>One of the two SATA connectors physically breaks off from the motherboard when I'm removing a HDD (I try to fix it but break off one of the pins so it's permanently broken now)
>The bundled Asus diagnostic software which I installed out of boredom shows that the PSU is feeding 15V on the 12V line and I buy a new PSU - Despite the original one is just fine and it's just the POS Asus software bugging out
>Ethernet chip breaks down (won't even register ether in BIOS or Windows) for no reason at a LAN party and I have to get an overpriced PCI card as a replacement
>The second SATA connector breaks off when I move the computer a few feet with the case closed (this time I am successful in fixing it)
>The southbridge eventually burns out leaving the computer a useless box with no IO except the monitor
It along with the customer support, or rather the lack thereof, is the reason why I'll never buy an Asus product and part of the reason why I bought a mac in 2007 and haven't looked back.
>>
>>34814589

No, kick whoever told you that. IE is like, the only fucking good part of WinRT, they've made a really good browser for that thing. The rest is shit, though, do not buy one. Buy a comparatively priced Android or iOS tablet, or go for a proper x86 Windows tablet.

By "proper x86 Windows tablet" I mean (proper (x86 Windows tablet)), not (proper x86 (Windows tablet)). ARM Windows devices are universally shit, some of the x86 ones are good. There are cheaper ones than the Surface pro, a lot of them are very competitively priced with the iPad, though the ones in those price ranges will be using the newer Atom chips rather than Core.

I wouldn't buy one RIGHT now, though, wait a little. The low power/tablet range is where Haswell was targeted, so wait a little while for devices using that to populate.
>>
>>34814706
Fair enough. My previous set were incredibly shitty, so perhaps my comfort range is just lower.

I'd probably get the Latitude x86 tablet since it would have a big discount (around 150USD) once I buy a new laptop as well (it's 8 years old and can't run Adobe Flash properly).

I'll root it and install vanilla Android when I get another phone; I don't want to do it now in case I screw it up, then I'll be phoneless.

Bought 2 8800 GTX for SLI.
It was bad when it was still called Scan-Line Interleave and it's bad now.
Microstuttering, performance gains heavily dependant on the engine or not support at all (Looking forward to play GTA4 with lots of GFX mods with all that power? Haha, nope.), requiring driver profiles (I can operate nHancer in my sleep now), VSync doesn't really work, etc.
It's retarded in theory too. A GPU is already extremely parallelized. You don't add more processing power to a cluster by adding another cluster either, that would be horrible. You grow the cluster. Cramping two heavily parallelized processor together while they're still sperated by a bus (yes even the the single cards with dual GPUs are, just like Conroe cores had to communicate via the FSB) isn't very effective.
Fucking multi-GPU solutions. Never again.
