At the minimum focusing distance of the human eye, 1080p on 5", which is 441 PPI, is far from what the human eye can distinguish regarding individual pixels. It's a biological limitation and 300 PPI is already borderline indistinguishable.

1080p on smartphones is just a snake oil and you're just a marketing sheep if you think otherwise.

Android lags because of shitty phone makers shitting all over Android. It's like buying a pre-built, to realize your Windows has been bloated so fucking hard you can't do otherwise than fully re-install Windows.

Quite ironically, Android is the Windows of the mobile phones, while iOS and Windows Phone are both more like OS X.

most phones with "non removable batteries" can have their batteries replaced. If it's just a once every 2 years things then that's not a good argument. I replaced an iphone 3g battery that died yesterday for a friend. Took total of 15 minutes and it was the first time I've done something like that.

Now a phone like the HTC one where replacing the battery would be nigh impossible, that makes this argument stronger.

For your lazy assess...

So let's start with dimensions to give you an idea of how triple capacity translates into footprint increase.

Just for the reference, original Samsung OEM 3100 mAh battery is 75 mm x 56 mm x 5.6 mm (2.95" x 2.18" x 0.22") and weight of 54g (1.9oz). The new ZL9300 is 110.8 mm x 71.6 mm x 6.2 mm (thinner side) / 12.9 mm (stacked up side) -> 4.36" x 2.82" x 0.24" (thin) / 0.5" (thicker side). The weight of ZL9300 is 166g (5.9oz), and together with TPU case your Note 2 will clock in at 330g (11.7oz).

It obviously makes phone heavier and beefier in your hand, but dimensions with TPU cases are as thick/wide as Defender and length wise even shorter. I use Defender as a comparison also for a reason since this case is a very popular mod for extended batteries, and I'm planning to modify my "real" Defender for that purpose. Comparison pictures included below.

I'm still running stress test to drain down the battery. Received it yesterday, was at 60% from the box. Charged it up to 100% and then kept it on for another 5hr even after green light indicator went on. I can't sit all day and use it continuously, so I'm running Nova Battery Tester benchmark app.

As I mentioned before, it doesn't provide the exact accurate reading of the mAh, but does it's calculation by running a very CPU-intense stress test at full max brightness and everything on (except 4G) for about 2hr at a time while monitoring battery discharge. This is more vigorous than a regular use and I already ran 6 full cycles with battery down to 35% now. I will continue running it down to 2% or so.

What I found is that reported mAh capacity is showing consistently 3x or more the capacity of my stock battery I ran under the same test conditions. Doesn't matter mAh reading, it's a relative test and for sure - this ZeroLemon 9300 mAh is at least 3x times the capacity of our stock Samsung 3100 mAh battery!

Here is a screen shot with Nova Batt Tester results so you can see my latest tests with ZL showing triple capacity in comparison to previous stock batt results. Once I drain my battery with Nova stress test, I will post a final screen shot of total battery run time and screen

so you have 11ac but you can't use it anywhere besides maybe a friends house and your own house. the infrastructure just isn't there yet.
you'd be better off looking at that spec a year or two from now when more people have it. n has been out for years and still isn't everywhere business wise because their g routers are still kicking

what you get on your cellular network seems more important. i just use 4g when outside of the few places where i've bothered to sign into the wireless network.

I like this thread, it shows just how stupid modern consumers (and a vast majority of /g/) are.

> What? You mean you want to be able to replace the battery in your phone when it goes bad?
> LOL SUCH A PLEB, do you seriously not buy a new phone every year and a half? HAHA WOW.

You guys rave about "my freedoms!" when it comes to software and operating systems.
You bitch about how Linux is superior because it's free unlike Windows with it's license fees.
But when it comes to phones you're perfectly willing to spend $300+ on a device featuring the world's most obvious planned obsolescence, and then buy a new one the next year for another $300+, and the year after that another $300+, and the year after that, and the year after that.

And by all means, please do go on about: "but if you're not a pleb you'll know how to take the phone apart and replace it yourself".
Yes, you could do that. But then when the phone bursts into flames because you used a cheap chinese battery, or soldered wrong, or even if the phone breaks due to a manufacturing defect, you can't do shit due to voiding the warranty by opening the phone.

You guys are literally advocating planned obsolescence like it's the best thing to ever happen, and then you promote the practice of voiding your own warranty in order to sidestep the planned obsolescence you promoted so vigorously just a few moments prior.

That is so far beside the point it's the next god damn state over

there's a difference between posting pseudo-anonymously on an image board and carrying a device with you everywhere you go that can track your movements and record your conversations

>planned obsolescence

I don't think it is. It's just the logic of businesses trying to save money.

>well we could use these parts and design it a bit differently but that would be more expensive, so we wont.
>instead we'll use these "decent" parts that aren't top of the line but we can get them cheap because there is a healthy supply of them in order to sell the phone cheaper (than its $600 counterparts) and/or increase profit margins per phone.

I don't see how paying $300 for a good device every year and a half is somehow worse than paying $650-700 for your "top tier" phone every 2-3 years. For arguments sake we'll ignore subsidizing because then you're still paying for it, just slowly.

The smart phone market is still increasing substantially. The computer market is still increasing substantially (mostly adding MOAR COARS though, but it is). It's typical to, in order to keep up with the latest and greatest, replace technological parts and devices every 2-3 years. It won't stop until we reach a point where there aren't substantial upgrades at every "tock" (or "tick", it depends on the company you're looking at and your point of view.) If you are on the "tock" you are more likely to stay on it.. even more true for phones and their 2 year contracts in the US.

You can look at people who spend $300 every year on Nexus devices as half-investing in every generation, but it evens out.
>>
>>35480989
I just realized how hilarious that would be
>>
>not dual front facing speakers

>>
>>35480821
By using the magic words "The design prevents it. If we had to include replaceable battery the phone wouldn't look as gorgeous as it does now".
And everyone, having been brainwashed by Apple & Co's marketing tactics for so long, simply nods their heads and goes "Yeah, that's a good argument. I would hate for the phone to look less pretty".

>>35480828
That's why you always take photos of your phone before sending it to warranty repair, and if you are required to mail it yourself, wrap the phone in ample bubblewrap and take photos of that as well. That way they can't drop it on the floor and claim you did it, or that you didn't package it properly.
Then if they deny you saying it's "physically damaged", ask for a detailed report on exactly how it's physically damaged, and how that damage relates to you. And if you find it to be invalid, inform them about it, and if necessary threaten to contact the press and consumer rights organizations. Ask for names, and threaten to contact Motorola's CEO personally with their names as being liars and scammers.

If you nag enough, and threaten enough, they'll find that it's less of a hassle to just fix your phone, rather than continuing arguing and risk loosing their job.

>>35480852
The ability to continue using your phone past the point of battery failure due to age also a freedom.
The freedom to use a device for as long as you want, irregardless of the manufacturer's desire for you to pay them more money for a slightly upgraded variety.

>>35481125
I called them 3 times. The dude I talked to sounded like a sleepy mexican and I'm pretty sure he hung up on me the second and 3rd call.

I sent it in because the digitizer was fucking up. When I got it back the wifi was completely broken, like wouldn't turn on, and they had bent the battery pins, the phone now randomly reboots hard locks and turns off.

It was a learning experience. Up until now my warranty claims were more along the lines of, oh we are so sorry here let us send you a new one. Before they even receive the product.
>>
>>35481125
You can't cite random things and claim they are freedoms.

I can't shove my phone up my ass and flex my rectum to dial out, but I was never told I could. The people buying this phone have no plans to upgrade their battery. There is no bait and switch. They don't WANT to upgrade their battery, hence why they don't care that the phone cannot get a battery upgrade. They are allowed to make this decision despite your desire to tell them they are wrong. It's no different than ANY OTHER CHOICE IN LIFE. What you want in a phone does not always equal what someone else wants. You really should try getting over this now.

It's not so much about "saving money" as it is about design. Being able to design without the battery compartment in mind lets you design a much more "uniform" device.

Question Time:
Your standard battery will last at full function for 2-3 years.
You are buying a $300 phone yearly in order to stay on both the bleeding edge of Android and the bleeding edge (however dull) of the Nexus line.
What purpose does having the ability to replace a worn out battery have, when considering that it will be replaced in a year?

>"But why would they replace a phone yearly!?"
Because they are spending half of the amount of money on it than someone who purchases a top-tier phone for $650 every two years.

They end up spending an equal amount. They get the benefits of being on the Nexus line. They don't have to worry about maintenance or keeping their phone in working order, it's not meant to last forever.

Think of it like a $300 yearly subscription with which you are provided a phone.

By the way, I own a Galaxy S3 and I'm on Verizon. I have the ability to upgrade/replace my battery, but I'm not. I still get great battery life. This battery will last me well into when I get my next upgrade, so I see no benefit to the "you can replace the battery!!" argument.

I actually care about the SD card slot, as it's cheap storage that can be removed. That is a feature that matters.
