I like my HTC One S, different phones I know but I see no real reason to hate HTC. S4 only if you really have to change out the battery or the SD card

The One is the nicest looking phone on the market but it does lack the SD card and replaceable battery. If you're gonna use a case like a smart person you lose a lot of that appearance factor.

4.3 = absolute certainty

5.0 = who the fuck knows, it's HTC, they're not known for providing major releases when they're available so that's a toss up, and Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie most likely won't be out till mid-2014 anyway since they just firmly announced 4.3 is coming at some point so that pushes KLP well into 2014.

Anyway, custom ROMs will be available before that so even if HTC doesn't ever provide an official KLP release, you can be sure some developer(s) over at XDA or wherever will make it happen.

Consider Xperia Z.

With brightness up I've barely even had any problems with viewing angles. Overall I'm really, really happy with the Z.
