My mother bought a 10" or 9" one. Don't know about the serial number stuff.
The keyboard is quite small, and there's not enough disk space on C:, it's a pain in the ass sometimes to install stuff.
I'd be careful about disk space.
Also Windows was sluggish so I installed Ubuntu Netbook on it and it's better, she likes it.

I'm just saying they are not built well even by low budget standards so don't be surprised if some of the letters stop working or the left click on the touchpad goes to shit within a year. That's what mine did and it's sitting in a drawer with a bunch of other computer crap because spending $80 to replace a keyboard for a year old 3 or 4 hundred dollar netbook is hard to swallow.
