MP3 is already a compressed format, along with jpg, mpg and many others. It won't compress that much.
Think of it this way: the original .wav is uncompressed, mp3 is a compressed version of it (mp3 = lossy format, and rarring is not lossy, but point remains).

For general purposes there is "no way" and no need to have it compress any more, it would be more trouble than it is worth.

OK, since no one will answer your clearly, I will. MP3s are already highly compressed using a compression algorithm. It does not help to compress already-compressed data, since there is no theoretical way you can encode the compressed data (without resorting to multi-pass systems). That's why when you compress a wav file, it will compress very well, but not so with an mp3. Same with a bitmap, it will compress very well, but not a jpeg.

Adding to these, the "store" option is just what it says, it just stores the files and does not actually compress them, just puts them in to a container so you can have 1 file instead of 10.

Naturally it's worth nothing to store a single file, if you don't want to encrypt it or something.

i suggest making a split rar. split it into 6 will give you 6x4mb chunks. your friend can then reassemble them with winrar.

OP, split with winrar/7zip in storage mode, no need to compress, it'll go faster. Upload individually, have friend put them all in the same folder and unzip the first file in the group. probably 10 minutes of work on each end, tops.

I had hoped to be able to send like, full albums I appreciate your help, but I've more or less given up on the idea at this point. there's a 10 MB limit on attachments for outgoing emails, and at the rate his dialup goes it'll take years. it's not worth the bother on either of our parts.
