    31 KB Motion Interpolaton Anonymous 09/17/09(Thu)14:24 No.5850864
    Do you think it's worth paying more for a TV with motion interpolation (trumotion,motionflow whatever) technology?

    What's /g/'s opinion on this? Also Are 120 Hz LCD TVs really different from 60 Hz ones?

    Yes, yes they are.

    I just fucking said it, you think I'm trolling? The screen refresh rates reach a point where CRT has no refresh advantage.

    I've actually heard 240hz is weird on the eyes. Like it's TOO realistic looking or something. Everyone I know who has 240hz TVs has actually turned it back down to 120hz. Know anything about that?
    >> Anonymous 09/17/09(Thu)14:28 No.5850904
    you cant even tell if ur watching a 120 or 60, so no theres not really a differents. get whats cheaper.

    Blu-ray is 60fps when interlaced but only 24fps progressive scan
    Valid HDTV framerates are 23.98p, 24p, 25i, 25p, 29.97i 29.97p, 30p, 50p, 59.94i, 59.94p and 60p.
    All three consoles are restricted to 60Hz with many games running at less than that.

    Yes, funnily enough they're different by around 60hz.

    that true motion shit just makes everything look unrealistically smooth.

    I fucking hate it. It also adds a nice amount of input lag in games.

    I thought high refresh rate makes up for the slow color change of LCD screens that causes blurriness and has less to do with the frame rate of the content.

    causes shit artifacts too sometimes. I thought it might be okay for some games though. Like RPGs which don't require reflexes at all
    >> Anonymous 09/17/09(Thu)14:35 No.5850987
    120hz is just for 24fps moviefags

    Telling a pixel that takes probably 16ms to change colour what colour it should be every 8.33ms doesn't really get you any benefit.

    To my opinion yes. But many cases TV's with motion interpolation causes images not smoother but play like a camcorder video.

    In effect a film or tv show that normally runs in 30 frames per second, will run like 60 frames per second with a motion interpolation television.

    Examples:
    30fps video-->120MHz=60fps
    60fps video-->240MHz=120fps

    A even if a video game is played on a motion interpolation television, it will have the same effect, but it may or may not cause input lag.
