    What the fuck?
How is this program so good?
It's like 30 megs to download, and takes up almost no hard drive space, but it's an advanced 3d editor, which can also edit videos with more options and power than most commercial applications.

It's blender - completely free, has its own game engine inbuilt, edits and sequnces videos and audio non-linearly, with heaps of effects, and is also a commercial grade mesh editor with brilliant tools for UVmapping, warping, etc.

Life is short. You find yourself having to absorb the work techniques of a lot of different software. And some of those divisions — between vector and pixels, 3D and 2D, motion and stills — look increasingly old-fashioned. Since the early 90s, we’ve seen a succession of software try to bridge those gaps. But for the first time, there’s an open-source entrant that promises to bring just about everything involving 3D and motion, minus audio, into a single tool. That means the ability to run on any OS, and a greater sense of a community that can hack the app itself.

The surprise: the app is a 3D tool, Blender.

Photoshop has short-cutted everything for you.

    Case in point:
Sponge tool in Pshop saturates the part of the image where you apply it to.
In Gimp you have to copy the layer, saturate it then mask paint it.

In GIMP you just have to do it manually. Which is fine for me.
    >> Anonymous 05/24/09(Sun)02:44 No.4480565
