Okay,
I want you to think about a sandwich. Think about how a peanut butter
sandwich and a pastrami sandwich are pretty much the same idea, but
different. We'll say they run on the same engine, the Sandwich Engine.
Compare them with a plate of spaghetti. It's still food, you eat it,
but the concept is different. There is no bread - filling - bread
implementation there. An engine is going to be like that, a very basic
implementation of what a game needs to run (graphics, sound, controls,
etc) but doesn't necessarily define the end product. If I say I am
going to give you a "sandwich", you've got a general idea of how it's
going to work, but there is a lot of variation beyond that. |
