The Matter and energy in the universe either was there forever or it was created. And both these situations are impossible.

Oh yes, I'm not religious but I know what you're talking about. No big bang doesn't doesn't contradict with the idea that god created the universe. It does however conflict with literal interpretations of the 1000+ year old, many times translated book that was recorded and retold by people who were by today's standards ignorant.
