  • "UPTIME IS THE GAME, DOWNTIME IS THE NAME"
today marks the end of scheduled maintenance—two guys with two weeks to kill and a few hundred hours later, we're finally [mostly] done.
page loads/image downloads should be dramatically faster. until we hit 1gbps, at least. to all of my wonderful and ungrateful users: "you're welcome."
(note: there are still a few other things i'll be working on so expect intermittent downtime)
ps: thanks so much to mvb for all of the help and support.

PROTIP: the Big Bang Theory only covers what happened immediately AFTER the singularity event, not the event itself. No scientific theory can explain what happened before or during the creation of the Universe. There are numerous hypotheses, but no actual theories yet. Nobody with half an education is claiming to know where the Universe came from or how it began and certainly not that it "came from nothing". That doesn't even make sense.

Stop being a willfully ignorant, irrational, delusional retard. Educate yourself. Maybe then you won't cling to your fairy tales like a security blanket.

    Anyway, "goddidit" isn't any different.

One of the most basic laws in the universe is the Second Law of Thermodynamics. This states that as time goes by, entropy in an environment will increase. Evolution argues differently against a law that is accepted EVERYWHERE BY EVERYONE. Evolution says that we started out simple, and over time became more complex. That just isn't possible: *UNLESS there is a giant outside source of energy supplying the Earth with huge amounts of energy*. If there were such a source, scientists would certainly know about it.

Gravity: Doesn't exist. If items of mass had any impact of others, then mountains should have people orbiting them. Or the space shuttle in space should have the astronauts orbiting it. Of course, that's just the tip of the gravity myth. Think about it. Scientists want us to believe that the sun has a gravitation pull strong enough to keep a planet like neptune or pluto in orbit, but then it's not strong enough to keep the moon in orbit? Why is that? What I believe is going on here is this: These objects in space have yet to receive mans touch, and thus have no sin to weigh them down. This isn't the case for earth, where we see the impact of transfered sin to material objects. The more sin, the heavier something is.

Me some more, while I was a bit mocking before. I suppose when it comes to big bang.. "god did it" is actually a pretty acceptable answer. However there are a handful of other ideas out there. This is why I think it's silly when people are all like "BIG BANG MEANS THE UNIVERSE JUST CAME IN AND EXPLODED SO SILLY I AM SMARTER THAN YOU"

Though I'm hardly an expert in the subject, I have read enough to know that big-bang is more than the universe coming into being and exploding. You'd think that people who devote their time to talking shit about it would have bothered to do the reading.

    You never read the Bible.
    >God created the earth 6000 years ago
actually humans were created around 6000 years ago, if you do your research and look at the time lines of those who lived before the flood you will notice it goes over your 6000 year mark. The Earth was created a lot longer before than probably 10,000+ years ago.

    >you are going to Hell.
Incorrect, hell is just a word when translated means "common grave". When you die you go back to the ground. You should learn to read the Bible in it's original language before making silly things up like that.

I agree that anyone who takes the whole bible literally deserves to be called a moron. However most of the science in the Old Testament is plausible if distorted because it was transmitted orally for thousands of years before being written down.

Oh yes, I'm not religious but I know what you're talking about. No big bang doesn't doesn't contradict with the idea that god created the universe. It does however conflict with literal interpretations of the 1000+ year old, many times translated book that was recorded and retold by people who were by today's standards ignorant.

I dunno it just kills me when I see otherwise smart people not be able to come to grips with modern day because they feel the need to follow the bible to the letter, even as today there is no way in the world that the bible is the bible to the letter.

What I can never understand is why so-called 'Christians' place so much emphasis on Genesis. Jesus himself said that the Hebrew covenant was no longer in effect so why would they care what the Old Testament says?

Lot of the new Testament references the old, even Jesus quoted from it.

Also it was the mosaic law that is no longer needed as Jesus is the end of that law.

You're not getting it. SCIENCE =/= ATHEIST.

Atheism is simply to question religious belief. You can do so by stating theres to many different kinds of religion, all of which cant be proven right or wrong. So you simple choose to not believe. I don't know if the big bang happened, I don't know how any of this happened. I don't care. All I know is the shit exists and we should look ahead instead of always questioning our past.

Not really. Science is about theory's and what seems to be the most plausible reason for something to happen.

    Reasoning why something happens.

Theory's are built upon other theory's. Once one of them is proved to be wrong they have to make new theory's.
