so I'm trying to get a netbook/sub notebook, which ones would you recommend, I'm trying to buy something that is not very expensive.
I heard Librettos are good (from Toshiba) but it's discontinued.
I'm going back to school plus I work so I really need something like a netbook.
    Thanks

dell mini 9, mine just shipped :D
    >> Anonymous 01/08/09(Thu)22:28 No.3149509
At this point they are all the same.

    EeePC 901
    Acer Aspire One
    Lenovo S10
    Dell Mini 9

They all have a 1.6Ghz Intel Atom, 512MB or 1GB of DDR2 RAM and are all upgradeable to 2GB, they have a 8GB flash or 160GB 4200RPM HDD, wireless and a 8 inch screen. Find the one that is the most ascetically pleasing to you, and FUCKING BUY IT.

However right now is a shit time to buy. Sony, HP, Dell, and ASUS have all just demoed at CES what they are going to be selling this year. So go read Gizmodo or Engadget to find out what you should have bought instead of your AAO or Dell Mini 9.

    thanks.
    8GB flash or 160GB 4200RPM HDD

what's the difference? also how much are the prices for these mentioned?
    >> Anonymous 01/08/09(Thu)22:33 No.3149560
    MSI Wind

U100 here, $350 w/ 10.4" screen, 120gb, bumped to 2gb ram, b/g wireless, 1.6ghz Atom with and overclocking (turbo) mode up to 24% more speed or ECOmode that idles at 800mhz.
Supplied battery lasts 2+hours, and I use it just for school and work.

a best buy, in my opinion.

guys, I'm cheap, 400 is too much. 300 to 350 is my max and that's only if it's really good

I'm shooting for 200 btw. I bid so many netbooks on ebay and I gave up when someone bid 202

I remember trying out one of the HPs once. Nice, spacey keyboard.
    >> Anonymous 01/08/09(Thu)23:46 No.3150155
For a $200-300 price point, your probably going to have to go with an earlier gen of the asus eee or the acer aspire.

Most of the other OEMs aren't going for that cheap.

I have to admit I really like the mini 9, although I'm looking at buying a Mini12. (not OP)

There is a promo code out there to cut $50 off it right now, but I deleted the email.

Not bad for $200, SSD is small, but it would work and is upgradable.

netbooks are just a place holder fad for pocket internet devices.
wait for more ARM Cortex netbooks.pocket devices to show up during 2009.
buying a place holder only months before the real deals become more popular is just stupid.
    wait for it...

there are a ton of them in the 300-400 price range

that 4GB SSD one is the cheapest I've found anywhere for new.

    Ebay has a shit-ton for about 300
