If my RAM fails, I can replace it with minimal effort (herp derp I open the case and remove the RAM), if my HDD fails or I want to buy a larger hard drive in the future, I open it and I replace said component. I want a new processor? New Graphics card? I replace the mother fuckers.

Hell, if I want to go this far, I could close down XBMC, and I could launch Abiword to type up a document, or go browse the web with Firefox.

The point your missing is that I have a fully functioning machine for a minimal price difference. You have a shiny box that you can't change any hardware in.
