On Sunday we rolled out new HTML for 4chan's imageboards. The new code validates HTML5/CSS3, the design should appear exactly the same, pages should load slightly faster (especially long threads), and extension/user script/archive developers should have a much easier job parsing our pages. This is the first time in approximately ten years that it has been updated.

If you are using an extension or app that has not been updated for the changes, some features may not work—you will need to wait for the developer to update their extension/app to be compatible with the new HTML. If you haven't downloaded it already, try the Official 4chan Chrome Extension.

The most significant changes with the new HTML are a new mobile-optimized layout for phones, and inline extension features. Check them out by clicking [Settings] in the upper-right (make sure you don't select features that conflict with those from an extension though), or visit 4chan from your phone!

We are still working through a few bugs with the new code. Please report any bugs you find to newhtml@4chan.org.

sup /g/, I have a simple question for you

where's the coolest place to be on the internet?

it's not 4chan, is it reddit? where is it?
>>
I can say with a high degree of certainty that it is neither 4chan or Reddit, especially the latter.

There are many levels and areas of the interwebs. News, social media, forums, 9fag/failblog/reddit, and others.

you know the center of internet culture has shifted when newer websites use that website as a subject for content and critical thought/discussion

reddit discusses and posts 4chan content in a critical way, and has therefore shifted culture to its center to generate its own meta-discussions (even its own content+culture)

who critically uses reddit content as subject matter? I don't think anyone does yet

>discussing anything in a critical way

Maybe it's true for the smaller subreddits

usenet

critical thought
discussion
satirizing
mocking
meme-izing

doesn't matter how they use the content, but the point is a newer website uses an older website as its subject matter

it's just like what happens with new forms of media: radio uses printed material as content; tv uses radio content; internet uses tv content

It's 4chan. I'm not joking, I know people here hate to admit to be part of something popular but its true. Every single legitimate funny thing in the web came from here.

The people who don't come here (and they're mostly stupid people) is because they think 4chan = /b/ and that just by lurking here we'll track them on on troll them with dangerous things (you have a mind, think)

Incredibly, this is true
Although Something Awful, YTMND, and others were pretty big part of the center of the internet culture

Nowadays reddit is part of it too
