  • Attention 4chan extension/user script/archive developers: Some time in the next few days, we'll be rolling out a complete HTML rewrite of the imageboards.
The design will remain the same, but the underlying HTML/CSS is completely new, and validates HTML5/CSS3 (with some tweaks to account for cross-browser compatibility).

Please visit this thread to read more about the changes, and here to preview the code.

As a regular user, these changes should not affect you. You will need to update your 4chan browser extensions/user scripts when their maintainer updates them to be compatible with the changes.
The official 4chan Chrome extension will be ready to go when the updates happen, and 4chan X should be ready soon. We'll post more details on the day of the migration!

Even though they're Noctuas, is it quiet having that many fans? I assume you just run then on low and still get decent air flow because there are so many? If it is quiet, is it "silent" (inaudible at 1 metre)?

What are those things surrounding the fans? I assumed they were vibration dampeners, although I thought Noctua fans come with rubber pins already?

Also: What's that thing you're using to hold up the graphics card (and what graphics card is it?) It's an awesome idea! I'll probably do it myself, I assume it's because you don't want it to bend or something?

Last thing: can I see your Speccy? Sorry for asking so much, your setup is awesome.

Looks great if you get fractal fans (black/white), any black mobo (gigabytes or that thermal armor crap), and either watercooling or something that isn't a noctua. Or hell even a noctua with fractal fans. Have to plan that shit in advance though.

originally I was going to put it on the door, but thatll be really annoying everytime i want to open it, so i was thinking I move the black fan on the top left and add it to the 212+ as a second fan, and put the new fan in that spot.

There was probably some truth to that when they were first released, but matured drivers and CF caps really help.

I also suspect quite a bit of that is also nVidia fanboys trying to make a small problem bigger than it was (same goes for AMD fans claiming fermi housefires).

Also, what GPU is that in your guts pic? its a GTX 2xx series, right?

    >Even though they're Noctuas, is it quiet having that many fans? I assume you just run then on low and still get decent air flow because there are so many? If it is quiet, is it "silent" (inaudible at 1 metre)?
I have that many because I don't have a side fan and my case is in a really cramped space in the desk, so there's very little room for exhaust. The case fans are completely silent at 1m (at relatively low RPMs), but you can hear the processor fans and the graphics card fans! That's mainly because you hear them through the top exhaust, with the default covers on them you can't hear anything (but of course you don't have the top 2 fans then).
    >What are those things surrounding the fans? I assumed they were vibration dampeners, although I thought Noctua fans come with rubber pins already?
Magnetic Sharkoon vibration dampeners, I put them on on the top 2 exhaust fans because R3 has an issue with very strong fans blowing into the hex grill, and making it vibrate against itself somehow. When you use these the fans get about 1cm clearance between the fan and the grill which makes this a non-issue.
    >Also: What's that thing you're using to hold up the graphics card (and what graphics card is it?) It's an awesome idea! I'll probably do it myself, I assume it's because you don't want it to bend or something?
Powerjack, it's because my 7950 is severely depressed since the 680 came out, and it helps her hang in there.

    >doesnt that case have dust filters? who do i always see fractal cases that are dusty as fuck in guts threads? probably the owners never clean them since they're so fucking hard to get out.
For the lower intake filter, you have to remove the side of the case and the fan and the plastic frame and only then you can clean it. I removed the entire plastic frame and the filter, and put on a magnetic filter on the bottom side of the case, so I can just snap it off and clean without disassembling half of the case.

For the front filters, it's true that they're fixed to the plastic frames too, but I don't see why you'd have to clean them from the inner side too, it should be enough to just do the side facing outwards. Otherwise you have to unscrew those frames too.

Oh and the two top exhausts have pretty retarded grills/holes - they're made for 14mm fans so when you put 12mm there's an edge around them that makes the dust fall in around the fans. I'll have to plug that with something at some point.

if you use any expansion cards at all, especially high-end graphics cards, you should never orient the heatsink vertically. it's like placing a big hot wall infront of where the fan intakes air. front to back airflow, always. that one isnt nearly the worst i have seen though.

I only went with the abaddom because it has far more features for a slightly higher price, but the cable management is shit and there are many inconveniences in it). I could never justify spending more, just doesnt make sense imo.

Does anyone have any case guide that they could post? I'm looking for something around $100 to get out of the current case which is absolute shit.

I paid for it about $50 and it's probably the worst thing I have ever bought. I had to bend the frame to get the optical drive in because it was cut improperly and do the same when installing a front fan because the holes were in the wrong places.

Holy shit I hate this case.

I have found a few cases with pretty much the same price and I'm not sure which to chose:

CORSAIR 300R - Looks really sturdy, has a removable filter for PSU and has very simple looks which I like.
CORSAIR 400R - Seems similar in all departments to it's predecessor.
COOLERMASTER SILENCIO 550 - Looks good and simple as well, has some silencing foam which is awesome but I don't see any filters.
Regnum L50 Regnum L50 - Pretty round but seems to have all the bells and whistles like filters and nice drive bays.
