I agree with what he gets, but I do not agree that what is said on facebook can be cause to get a warrant, and a good lawyer could argue, that much like here on 4chan, anything said on facebook should be take as fiction and is not enough grounds for a warrant as they had it. facebook logs your IP from where you log in, and you yourself can view this, go to facebook, then go to account settings>security tab>active logins

you can see the IP and activity of currently active sessions. Facebook also keeps a record of all the IP addresses you log in from in a copy of your account info, forever(or as long as the account is active, and not purged). Its how they got his address in the first place, since FB was asked(not subpena'd mind you, which may also get it throw out, since its a huge privacy violation) to hand over his last 3 log in IPs, and they were the same(this is all in the case files), and then they found out who owned the ip(his ISP), and then got a subpoena for subscriber information, which has an address, which led them right to him.
