It's a great phone, huge upgrade from a 3GS in terms of speed and usability.

My only complaint, and it's a minor one, is that it has some shitty voice activated car-mode that sucks compared to the stock one. However, you can sideload the stock Android Car Home and set it as the default launcher when plugged into a car dock.

The camera will be outshined by Nokia at MWC. You and Apple know that they can't compare with Nokias optics. Software wise is a null point because different people like different things. The only thing Apple has is that it's a fashion statement and not a phone.

GS2 is still a great phone with a HUGE dev community. Will it be the top on the line after next week? No, but it's still a top tier Android phone. /g/ is only going to recommend bleeding edge phones that serve zero purpose. Most stuff can't even utilize the hardware in the GS2, let alone anything coming out soon. My only complaint is that resolution. If that doesn't bother you, by all means don't let anyone tell you it's a shit phone just because something else is coming out.

Also I have a few months that I can wait so I'll check that conference out, thanks.

We're talking about Touchwiz 4, the one found on the S2, so you can't judge it from your older version.

    Same problem as OP

My subscription is ending in one week and I need to make a decision.

I have the 3GS at T-Mobile. What would be a good phone to replace it? So far I'm thinking of HTC Sensation or the Galaxy S2 but I heard of the S3 as well. I don't want a discussion here, just a suggestion and why your suggestion is good.

I've got a friend who's got the Sensation.
He keeps talking about it constantly heats up and that the battery drains quickly.

Also I've been reading that HTC Sense on it is bloated and too animation happy.
    >> Anonymous 02/26/12(Sun)09:42 No.23170328
Get a windows phone. Won't lag, and will always get updates within a month of every other Windows phone. No need to wait for carrier updates or dick around with rooting and ROMs.

    >>23170284
as has already been mentioned, your best bet is to wait at least a couple of days as it is likely that better phones will be announced at MWC, which starts tomorrow.

this means that the phones you mentioned will become outdated, so even if you still want them they may be reduced in price because of it.

So far my hands on experiences with the Sensation aren't too bad.

All in all, I've had my 3GS for two years and it's still functioning good enough for me. Taken for granted, the Galaxy S2 is a huge improvement on the 3GS so I probably will have a much better phone in anyway.

it's just.. will the Galaxy S2 last me two years as well?

Why the fuck are people making such a huge fuss about it having pentile?

Because of the big resolution, you don't even notice that it's pentile.

    >will the Galaxy S2 last me two years as well?
This would depend on how you handle it. There's only a few very imperceptible scratches on my Galaxy S after 1,5 years of having it, and the battery is solid. As for the screen, I've been conservative with the brightness settings and the colors are still very vivid.

Performance wise ANYTHING with processing power will become "outdated" within a year. If you're not an obessive tech buff, a phone that is top-tier(ish) when you buy it should last you a couple of years easilly.
