58 KB Beeping on PC boot CompleteDisaster 12/23/11(Fri)10:24 No.21800795
Yesterday I've made here a thread about my problem. I'm kinda PC noob. Here's a short version:

yesterday on boot PC started making beeping, nothing will show up on the monitor (at least it didn't for 30 seconds, then I turned it off). Those are regular short constant beeps, about 2-3 per second. I tried removing video card and cleaning it as good as I could, then putting it back. Same with RAM and HDD (I cleaned video card and hdd only on the outside). It didn't help, the beeps are still the same.

I only have a clue it might be something with video card. It smells a bit odd. But not burnt, unless very slightly (I accidentally fried router 2 years ago, this smell was nothing like it). Should I just give up and take the PC to some store for them to fix it/should I just buy new video card? PC was bought about 3-4 years ago. Wasn't professionally cleaned since then.

I've had issues while playing Team Fortress 2, but I don't know if it's related: randomly while playing game could freeze for ~30 seconds, then the whole screen was a mess of random textures until I tabbed out and in. Also while playing Skyrim and tabbing out and in sometimes distant textures would get messed up.

    Install Coreboot.

something is dying for sure, dying motherboard could fry video card first (happened to me).
take it to the shop, there's too many variables to eliminate

Do you remember what BIOS you have?

It's a hardware problem. Your box won't POST. Open it up and replace the part that's fucked, or build another.

What is coreboot? I tried to google it, but I didn't really understand how it would help. And how to install it if I can't even do anything on PC, since all it does on boot is beep?

    Sorry, forgot to mention.
Motherboard: GA-946-S3 so BIOS - should be - AWARD.
It seems the beeps are "memory error".
    >> CompleteDisaster 12/23/11(Fri)10:36 No.21800930
Well, I supposed it might be, but I couldn't tell for sure. I only know if you bring up things outright ridiculous even to noobish me - like rubbing everything with magnets :P
    >> Anonymous 12/23/11(Fri)10:36 No.21800932
Unplug everything (cards, HDD, RAM) and incrementally add stuff until you find the bad item.

Start with one stick of RAM and the video card and just see if you get something on your monitor. Then keep adding more RAM, then add the other cards. Eventually add the HDD connections.

If you can't even get the first boot, then either your motherboard, video card, or that RAM stick is fried.
    >> Anonymous 12/23/11(Fri)10:36 No.21800934
Your description reeks of faulty ram, go replace them. It's cheap and a good start.

Ok, I'll try that, thanks. But can you see the motherboard:
    http://www.gigabyte.pl/products/page/mb/ga-946-s3/
And tell me where is what? I mean, I know RAM (x2 for me)is in southeast and video card goes to - at least in my case - to the lightblue spot in the middle. Is there anything else on the motherboard I should unplug? I can't seem to find anything else that can be pulled out.

As for RAM - should I first start plugging in 1st one, if it doesn't work should I try pulling it out and trying with only the 2nd one?

Oh and ... I know, what I'm saying might sound ridiculous "what? you don't know where is what?! how did you get this PC?!" well, my brother bought it few years back, now he's gone. He never let me try fixing anything in PC, so I'm slightly PC-retarded.

why don't you be honest and tell us what stupid thing you really did and maybe we can actually help you fix it.

i don't buy this "it just started doing this on boot pc"

you're stupid, and also a you're a liar. stupid we can help educate you and get it fized - lying, we can't help.

lets try this again - now, are you sure you didn't wash something like the video card *first* and *then* you got the beeping?

that's all well and good, but when your bro pinned down your shoulders with his knees and forced his cock in your mouth, did he make you swallow his ejaculate by pinching off your nose or did you spit his calm into a tissue?

But I also said I did it on the outside, I mean, I didn't try removing fan - I just google'd how to do it - for the record - on my laptop.

For me it's odd too. Of course I just briefly described what happened, If you want more details, here you go:

Few days ago I format - first time ever - my PC and upgraded Win XP x86 -> Win 7 Pro x64. Everything worked like a charm (I only had difficulties with sound, after fixing it sound seemed a bit off, muffed or something).
Yesterday I decided to clean the desk PC was on. Before starting I turned PC to sleep mode, didn't completely turn it off (I was being lazy and possibly stupid there). My first time after format. It seemed slightly odd, since upon setting sleep mode - monitor went to sleep instantly, while it took ~30 seconds for PC to do the same.
I tried cleaning very carefully with a slightly wet cloth. Just the desk, under PC (not inside, per se), under router, under printer. I didn't unplug the PC. While cleaning PC was slightly moved - but very carefully. Oh and I wiped - with said cloth - those small openings on PC umm ... shell? (english is not my native language) you know, the ones for air circulation. They were almost completely covered in dust.

Then after boot - bam - constant beeping, just like that. That's the whole story. You see, there's no point in me hiding anything from you guys. Since it's the internet, I'm - somewhat - annonymous. I just didn't write all that before, because I didn't think it is relevant. I only suspected it's odd PC won't boot just after me cleaning the desk, when it didn't fail for over 3 years now.
    >> CompleteDisaster 12/23/11(Fri)11:12 No.21801363
he made me swallow. If I tried to spit it out, he would sit on my face and cut really stinky farts.
    >> CompleteDisaster 12/23/11(Fri)11:20 No.21801469
guys, guys, cmon, why all the hate? I know 4chan is kinda like that, but can you please at least save it for random or something? plus those trolls don't matter to me - at the moment I just seek help - if you won't help (some people did already, thanks) - no problem. I just ask for help. I won't get it? I'm fine with that, I'll just go to store when I get money.

As for brother analogy - he was 7 years older than me - and, well, I'm not aggressive or something - and he - kinda - was. So yh, if he forced me I would probably do that. But I would never forgive him nor would I call him my brother anymore. That and I would probably try to report him to parents, police, whatever.

As for my age - I don't want to tell it: it isn't relevant, you would probably now believe me and I don't want to look up some sad excuses for my "disability".
