There's more to technology then smartphones and computers /g/entlemen. Let us discuss some other technologies for a change. Let's revitalize this board.

like the spray on solar cells. only prototypes in the lab for now but its said they will within a decade or so be ready for mass production at $15-20 a square meter and similar efficiency to todays panels.

if this was another "show me your desktop thread" or "apple vs linux" thread or "build me a computer gee" thread or a "tablets vs fuck tablets" or "hey lets talk about my android phone" thread there'd be 10x more posts by now.

it's like you people live reliving the same few threads over and over and over again and no one wants to talk about anything new

The insect cyborgs would use biological energy harvested from their body heat or movements to potentially power small sensors implanted on their bodies in order to gather vital information from hazardous environments.

To harvest energy from insects, the researchers have designed a spiral piezoelectric generator that converts the kinetic energy from the insect's wing movements into electricity. This power would be used to prolong the battery life of devices implanted on the insect, such as a small camera, a microphone or a gas sensor.

Liquid Glass can sprayed on within seconds, creating an anti-microbial, easy-to-clean barrier that will last from one to several years, depending on the surface. It has already been used at Ataturk’s Mausoleum in Turkey, in certain UK hospitals, on a train, and on furniture. Liquid Glass has also been used in agricultural trials, where it was applied to the leaves and seeds of vines. The leaves were successfully protected from mildew, while the seeds didn’t require anti-fungal chemicals. It could also be used on clothing such as gowns or tuxedos, on kitchen surfaces (it’s food-safe and environmentally-friendly), on car interiors - really, on anything that people want to keep clean. Because you would essentially just be cleaning glass, objects treated with it would supposedly clean up easily with plain water, as opposed to harsh cleansers.

Liquid Glass is already available for domestic use in Germany, and should be coming to the UK early this year. No word on other markets yet.

Engineers there have created an electrode for lithium-ion batteries - the rechargeables commonly found in our devices - that allows them to run ten times longer, while only taking only one-tenth of the time to charge.

"We have found a way to extend a new lithium-ion battery's charge life by 10 times," said Harold H. Kung, in a paper published in the journal Advanced Energy Materials.
