    I know that feel.

I swear EA just exaggerated the graphical requirements for this game, I remember some corporate guy saying that to play on ultra you'd need a minimum of an i5 and 2 high end card SLI, now on release I can play it on ultra with my 6750 and phenom 2x4

    Thanks consoles.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/11(Sat)02:48 No.20835439
    The 5570 is a DX11 card

    DX11 runs a lot smoother than DX9.

This time it isn't console's fault. Blame the dev/publisher for trying to push expensive cards. The game looks and plays exactly how they showed it to you on the previews, but of course, you don't need a shitload of high end equipment. Still OP, enjoy that 580. It's a good card. I have a 6950 unlocked and OCd, but I do wish i had a 580.

Well I suppose I'm future proofed for the next few years, so that's good. I just feel cheated by EA.

My 5570 on the other hand is going to have a place of honor when I swap it out, I'm keeping that and mounting it on a wall. It's like the little GPU that could.

    >>20835490
You could always return that 580. Just don't open it. I'd keep it, though. Seems like enjoying the game on Ultra would bee cool too, and there are lots of games that I don't think you can run with your 5570.

Only game it hasn't managed is The Witcher 2, and I'm not really that bothered. Nah I think I'll keep the 580 and use my 5570 to build a cheap gaming set up. Seems a shame to lose it, that card's done me proud.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/11(Sat)03:00 No.20835575
Yeah EA REALLY played up the requirements for Battlefield 3.

"oh my god you need a 4 fermi SLI just to play it on medium"

Guess it worked though. OP is proof people bought high end hardware they don't really need.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/11(Sat)03:02 No.20835593
Was so close to upgrading from my GTX 460 but now that I see it run smoothly on this, I'm glad I didn't.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/11(Sat)03:04 No.20835607
i was telling people the BF requirements were hyped to fuck. their "recommended" requirements where they thought a 560 was equivalent to a 6950 should have tipped you off that they were bullshitting.
also 580 is a shit card which shouldnt be bought under any circumstances. you fucked up OP

Any modern card will max it, it's a console port do expect everything to cater to DX 9 specs, with some DX 11 garnish thrown on afterwards. You'll have no problem maxing it.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/11(Sat)03:19 No.20835716
    >>20835364
No, you didn't waste a fuck ton of money.

I bought a GTX 550 Ti to prepare for myself for this game even though the recommended specs was a GTX 560 and surprisingly ran well at High Settings at around 40 frames. Even at Ultra settings it ran around 30, a frame rate no different than the console version, with the exception of the full force of the graphics engine. But seriously, recommended specs are just recommended, but the closest you are to the recommended specs, the better your experience will be.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/11(Sat)03:20 No.20835718
I genuinely don't understand you people.

Of course that level are will play it, it's a game that is on consoles, 7 year old hardware. Any GPU will probably run it in the last 7 years. The better, newer cards might add a little more blurr or make it a bit smoother if you max the options, but tweaking the settings will make it playable on any card.

Are you people fucking retarded? When EA say you need a $4,000 PC with three GPU's to get the most out of this game, that because it makes them look good, not because it's actually true. It's just marketing.

    Jesus you people are dumb.
    >> Anonymous 10/29/11(Sat)03:24 No.20835750
    >>20835716

But that's bullshit. According to EA OP's old card shouldn't have been able to play it on low, let alone high at that resolution by tweaking the AA and other things.

EA setting's arn't recommended, they're completely fucking fabricated.

Well the 5570 seems to get a lot of praise in this thread, an that's a pretty cheap 1gb card that's easily overclocked.

Or if you wanna spend a little bit more a 5770 or 5870

6850/6870 if you're fine with high.

560 Ti/6950 2GB/570 if you want to run the game on ultra without AA.

560 Ti SLi/6950 2GB CFX if you want to run it on ultra with AA.

I still might get a 6870 to replace my 5770 later on. It's already been a damn year since the 6850/6870 release, but I bought my 5770 last August. A 7*** series card might just be a proper upgrade though.
